About the adventure
One still evening, a knock at your guildhall door draws you out of your comfy fireside chair and into the chill of the night. The courier hands you a letter written on luxuriously thick paper and scurries off into the deepening shadows without a further glance. Curious, but the night grows curiouser still. In purple language, a humble landlord beeches the aid of your adventuring guild. Commerce has slowly but surely been leaving his quaint countryside town. Could you come out and investigate to see whether the cause is nefarious or simply sad? Payment is assured and hefty.

Meet the Game Master
About me
There’s something so special about gathering around the table with nothing more than a good idea and a few like-minded individuals. Whether it’s for an extended time or just a few hours, when you sit at my table, you can expect an experience that’s fulfilling, engaging, and tailored to your preferences. My role as the Game Master is to keep a good cadence. This means that I will do my best to ensure that gameplay moves at an appropriate pace for the set time frame and that all players ideas are heard by the table at large. It’s also my job to keep track of game rules and mechanics; you come with the creativity and I’ll guide you through the technical stuff! While I will always come to the table fully prepared to run the game, the world is yours to explore; outside of specific game mechanics, there’s no where in the game you can’t explore and you will always have full agency over your character and your character’s fate.

Creating your character
Please come with level 1 characters prepped. During our combined session 0/1, we will collectively establish the world's background, go over table rules, review safety tools, and advance to level 3. Please take max HP and ignore encumbrance & coin weight. You can generate stats in the method most comfortable to you.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We will be using Discord for our play. For maps, I'll be using D&D Beyond, but it's not necessary to have a D&D Beyond account for this campaign.
What Nic brings to the table
I use Pocket Bard to add ambient music in addition to using a wide range of voices to differentiate characters. I'm mechanically minded, but there's no need for you to also be crunchy; you let me know the cool thing you want to do, and I'll finagle a way to make it work within the rules!
Homebrew rules
There are two options for potions: 1, take an action and get max HP or 2, take a bonus action and roll for HP. Nat 20s during initiative rolls mean that you go first (unless there are multiple Nat 20s on initiative, then DEX determines who goes first). Nat 1s are auto-fails and no modifiers can be added.

How Nic creates a safe table
I have an Open Door Policy; you can leave and return at any time during the session. If you would like for the game to pause until you return, you'll need to specify that. If you are ever uncomfortable during gameplay, you can message me privately or drop an emoji in the chat and we will move past that scene, no questions asked.
