About the adventure
Candela Obscura is a paranormal secret society whose charge is to protect the turn-of-the-century city of Newfaire from the strange, magickal, and occult. As members of this investigative organization, your mission is to rescue the teeming masses from the horrors that wish to destroy society as they know it. Hello there! I'm Anya (she/her) and I'm an American expat living in Germany. I have 26+ years of acting experience and have been playing a variety of TTRPGs since 2009, GMing since 2019. Creating your character
For this game, we will be using pregenerated character sheets. While the PCs' stats and abilities are set, their names, personalities, and backstories are your own to create! The pregens are: 1. The Carnival of Dreams is a triumph by most accounts, sandwiched in-between the Steel and Red Lamp districts for pleasure-seekers and folks from all walks of life. The Newfaire Herald shared Newfairens's excitement over the incredible feats on display, proclaiming it a "roaring success" in a bold front-page headline…that is, until one sunny Saturday afternoon when attendees and carnies alike suddenly vanished without a trace.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Basic webcams and mics are perfectly fine! This isn't a streamed Actual Play, and the important thing is that we are able to see each other and understand one another. Basic understanding of the genre is of course helpful, but you don't need to be an expert in this brand-new game by any means! That's what I'm here for. You are welcome to have your own physical dice to play with, or you can use virtual dice as well.

How Anya creates a safe table
We will discuss the Lines & Veils list in a mini session zero prior to the game with names stripped away to be anonymous. There will be no graphic gore in this game, as it is one of my lines, and will be at most fade to black. If at any time a player needs to modify their Lines & Veils, they are absolutely welcome to message me privately and we will pivot/update that information accordingly. We take one 10-minute break in the middle of my sessions.
