About the adventure

You have survived many dangerous adventures, and have now been sent on to the most dangerous quest yet... Dark Tower!! ---- You’re no hero. You're a PEASANT. Sure, maybe you'd love to be adventurer: a reaver, a cutpurse, a heathen-slayer, a tight-lipped warlock guarding long-dead secrets... seeking gold and glory, winning it with sword and spell, caked in the blood and filth of the weak, the dark, the demons, and the vanquished. Because you've heard there are treasures to be won... But that's in the future. IF you live that long... Because since time immemorial, you and your people have toiled in the shadow of the Cyclopean ruins, of mysterious origins and the source of many a superstition, where those ruins have always been considered a secret best left unknown by the folk of your hamlet. And now, something stirs beneath the crumbling blocks. Beastmen howl in the night and your fellow villagers are snatched from their beds. With no heroes to defend you, who will rise to stand against the encircling darkness? The secrets of Chaos are yours to unleash, but at what cost to sanity or soul?... We started this campaign with a "funnel": the classic introductory adventure for Dungeon Crawl Classics "Sailors on the Starless Sea", which pitted a mob of level 0 adventurers against the legacy of the Chaos Lords and their corrupted hordes. Delving beneath the crumbling ruins, your characters discovered ancient crypts, a starless sea, and an eldritch ziggurat, where death and treasure await in equal measure! Several other wild adventures followed... but now.... ...Characters are now level 4 and starting the (in)famous Dark Tower adventure, fully converted over to Dungeon Crawl Classics! The influential dungeon whose design led to the phrase "Jacquaysian".
