About the adventure

🏳‍🌈 You are most welcome here. *** 🎺 Calling all adventurers! “Take to the skies,” they said. “Explore the unknown,” they said. You know what they didn’t mention? The heart-pounding terror of a pissed-off dragon ripping into your airship and sending you crashing into the islands below. But hey, if we can patch up what's left of her and find a way to avoid Big Blue up there -- we might have a chance to get off this rock. *** ✍ Create your own pulp-adventure hero! Eberron is a cosmopolitan world that exists in the aftermath of the Last War. You're setting out on a survival adventure aboard the doomed HLS STORMRIDER. 🛠 Powered by Foundry VTT to create a game that uses high-automation, animated effects, and customized enemies. 📖 "Stormriders of Shipwreck Isle" is a scenario loosely-based on the Wizards of the Coast module "The Dragons of Stormwreck Isle" that started out as a simple setting conversion that ballooned into completely reimagined story that expands upon the themes presented in the original adventure with a distinctly Eberron spin. ⚙ Step into the world of Eberron. A fantasy-industrial setting where magical innovation has led to incredible leaps in arcane innovation, but has also led to as many horrors as it has wonders. Nearly everything that you're used to seeing in D&D (plus a bunch that you won't see anywhere else) exists somewhere in this world -- it just might not be how you're used to it being portrayed. 🧭 If you've played Dragons of Stormwreck Isle before, you may recognize some names and visit some familiar-looking sites, but your knowledge of events from another world will do you little good in facing the dangers of the Dragonwatch Isles. 🎥 Themes for this campaign include: Pulpy adventure, horror, exploration, and wartime trauma. Major thematic and visual influences include: The Mummy (1999), Reign of Fire (2002, Lost (2004-2011), Indiana Jones (1981), Our Flag Means Death (2022-2023), Firefly (2002-2003), and Arcane (2021-2024). 📑 My tables are improv-friendly, and I'm generally willing to roll with whatever you want to throw at me and my carefully laid plans. Sessions will have a mix of theater of the mind, visual aides, and tactical combat. 🍖 Includes bonus content from 3rd Party Sources: Exploring Eberron, Flee Mortals!, and the Tome of Beasts to give a unique experience. ***

About me

Hey y'all, I'm Chris. I'm a late 30-something Game Master from and currently living on the edge of Hillbilly Nation in the state of Kentucky. For a little north of the past 20 years I've usually been actively running, or thinking about running, some sort of tabletop roleplaying game. In 2003, I started running games because no one else wanted to play the game I wanted to. Then in 2024, I decided to take the plunge and try asking complete strangers to *pay* me to play make-believe for a few hours every week. To be completely honest, I still have a hard time understanding why, but after a couple of years of doing this at a professional level I'm starting to accept that I might be good at it. I'm a shy person by nature. I have mild stutter, plenty of anxiety, and enough self-doubt to go around -- but I also love being a Game Master. It's fun, it's creatively rewarding, and I'm constantly getting to meet and learn about new people, places, and things when I do it. Listen, I re-wrote and deleted huge chunks of this. I want to respect your time and try to make your experience fun. I want you to feel like you can relax, have a good time, and get engaged in creating a fun experience that makes your 3-ish hours with me a highlight of your week. Everything else is just set dressing.
