It is there, where you are hoping for refuge or maybe you want to board a ship to seek a new beginning somewhere else, forget all about the dreadful fate of Elturel. But escape may not come so easily. 🕯️ Do you want to uncover the mystery of two cities, beginning in the gutters and alleys of Baldur’s Gate and leading all the way into the first layer of Hell? 😈 Do you want to test your characters’ determination and morality against the wit and cunning of devils and demons? 🚗 Do you want to explore a hellish wasteland in a soul powered infernal engine, in the spirit of Fury Road? About me
Hi there, and well met. I’m Sam, a GM and documentary filmmaker from Germany, and I have been a oplayer of TTRPGs for most of my live and I am GMing regularly since 2020. My background in documentary filmmaking strongly influences my GMing style: cinematic scenes, rich atmosphere, memorable NPCs, and stories shaped by the characters at the table. If you love dark fantasy, sci-fi, and horror games, you are in the right place. I put a strong focus on character development and aim to give every player the tools and space for a meaningful arc. I encourage active roleplay both between players and with NPCs, and I like presenting morally grey characters, difficult choices, and situations without easy answers. I also enjoy welcoming new players, explaining rules clearly as they come up, and creating a safe and collaborative space for everyone at the table. If that sounds like your kind of game, I would be glad to welcome you to one of my one-shots or campaigns. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a DM :)

Creating your character
You do not need to create a character before Session 0. It is important that you first receive the information shared there before fully committing to a character concept. Keep in mind that your character begins the campaign traveling with a group of refugees from the city of Elturel to Baldur’s Gate. !!You start at Level 1!! 📜 Use only official 5.5e / 2024 content; no partnered content! 🧬 Species: Player’s Handbook (5.5e / 2024) 🎲 Ability Scores: Point Buy 🧾 Backgrounds: Player’s Handbook (5.5e / 2024) & Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerûn 🧙 Classes/Subclasses: Player’s Handbook (5.5e / 2024) & Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerûn 🔫 No guns!! 😈 I prefer not having evil aligned PCs in my campaigns. Let's talk about it some more during Session 0 🫠 No AI images & backstories 📈 Level advancement: Milestones Starting equipment: Class + Background items
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Think about your potential characters before Session 0. What kind of people do you enjoy playing, and how would they fit a setting full of intrigue and hellish horror? What did they do in Elturel? Did they live there, or were they there on a mission? Who are they beyond their class? Choose at least two classes & backgrounds that would make sense for what you have in mind. Is there a moment in their past, a loss, a regret, or a mistake that shaped them and left a lasting mark? What do they fear and love? Tech and accounts: • Free accounts on The Forge, Discord, and D&D Beyond • Chrome browser • A laptop or desktop PC with stable internet • A headset and a good microphone. Clean audio is very important. If you want to check how you sound, test your mic here: https://webcammictest.com/check-mic.html • A webcam, optional but highly recommended
What Sam brings to the table
You’ll get a private area on my Discord server for our Baldur’s Gate campaign. It includes channels for NPCs and factions, session recaps, leads and quests, rumors, locations, and handouts, plus a chat channel to share theories and ask questions. I post recaps weekly. Sessions run on Foundry VTT. I’ll explain the basics of Foundry to you during Session 0. Expect maps for combat, (animated) Theater of the Mind backdrops, music, and soundscapes. NPCs come with distinct voices, mannerisms and objectives.

How Sam creates a safe table
This module is meant to be played and enjoyed comfortably by everyone. It is gothic horror and can touch on intense material, but the goal is shared fun and a story we remember fondly. Some content is flexible and negotiable. Please review the content warning tags on the listing and bring any concerns to Session Zero. Session 0 sets expectations, calibrates tone, and confirms the safety tools we will use. Lines and Veils We define boundaries together. Lines are hard limits. Content placed behind a line will not appear in play, will not be referenced, and will not be hinted at. Veils are soft limits. When veiled content arises, it may be acknowledged briefly without description, or we cut away with a fade to black. Breaks We play for about 2.5 to 3 hours with one 10 minute break around the halfway point. If anyone needs a quick break outside of that but does not want to miss important moments, just say so and we can take another short 5 minute break. If you need to step away for any reason, simply do it and rejoin when you can. This is an open door table. Open Door Anyone may step away at any time for any reason. No explanation is required and your well being comes first. Stars and Wishes At the end of each session I invite you to share stars and wishes. Stars are the moments you enjoyed: a scene that landed well, a fun bit of roleplay, a ruling that felt good, a cool combat beat, or anything that made you smile. Wishes are the things you would like to see handled differently next time. This can be pacing, spotlight, tone, themes, rules clarity, amount of combat, intensity of horror, or any content that did not quite work for you. You can share your stars and wishes in two private Discord channels just for our group, or send them to me directly via Discord DM if that feels safer or easier. I use this feedback to gently adjust the game so it keeps feeling right for the table.
