About me

I’ve been playing tabletop RPGs since 2019 and running games since 2021, both online and in person. Outside of TTRPGs, I’ve worked as a software developer for the past four years, and I’m also a big reader. A lot of the books I love influence the way I run games, especially when it comes to character relationships, emotional moments, and that sense of being completely swept up in a story. What I love most about tabletop RPGs is the chance to roleplay, tell stories with other people, and create memorable moments together. I especially enjoy character interaction and romance in storytelling, and one of my biggest goals as a GM is to create D&D stories that capture some of the same feelings that my favourite books do. Most of my experience is with D&D 5e, both as a player and as a GM, and I’m very comfortable running games online using Roll20, Discord, and D&D Beyond. I aim to create welcoming, inclusive, and engaging games for both newer and more experienced players, with a balance of roleplay, exploration, combat, and character-driven moments. I also play Vampire: The Masquerade and would love to run it in the future. I also have two cats, who are very supportive of my tabletop hobby from a distance.

Character creation

Creating your character

No character creation needed, everything is ready for you! Pre-made level 1 characters will be provided on Roll20 ahead of the session, fully built and ready to play. All you need to do is show up. A selection of characters will be available for you to choose from, so you'll still have some say in who you play. If you have a preference for a particular playstyle, whether that's getting stuck into combat, exploring and investigation, or leaning into roleplay, let me know when you book and I'll do my best to make sure there's something that suits you. No rulebooks, apps, or preparation are required. If you're brand new to D&D, don't worry at all, I'll walk you through everything you need to know at the start of the session.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Create a free Roll20 account at roll20.net if you don't already have one. This is where we'll be playing and all the maps, tokens, and your character sheet will be waiting for you there. Download Discord or make sure you have it installed. We'll be using Discord for voice during the session. You don't need a microphone headset but one is recommended for the best experience. Accept your Roll20 invite: Once you've booked I'll send you a link to join the game. Click it to join the campaign so everything is ready before we start. Join the Discord server: I'll send you an invite link along with your Roll20 invite after booking.

What Drew brings to the table

I provide a fully built Roll20 game with maps, tokens, handouts, and pre-made characters, everything you need to jump straight into the adventure without any setup on your end. Beyond the technical side, here is what you can expect from me as a GM: Atmosphere & Immersion I use music and soundscapes throughout the session to help bring the world to life. Whether it's the echo of footsteps in a forgotten stone corridor or the tension of something stirring in the dark, I like every moment to feel cinematic and immersive. Storytelling & Roleplay I'm a storyteller at heart. The NPCs you meet will feel like real people with their own personalities, and I love giving players space to interact with the world and each other. Even in a one-shot, I want every player to have at least one moment that feels genuinely theirs. Combat Combat at my table is exciting and meaningful rather than just mechanical. I embrace the Rule of Cool, if something is creative, dramatic, or just really fun, I'm likely to say yes. I want fights to feel like scenes from a story, not just numbers on a spreadsheet. Beginner Friendly If you're new to D&D, you are in safe hands. I'll guide you through everything at the start of the session and check in throughout to make sure you're comfortable and having fun. No question is too basic and no mistake is too small. The Vibe Warm, inclusive, and collaborative. My table is a place where everyone belongs, everyone contributes, and everyone leaves with a story worth telling.

Safety

How Drew creates a safe table

Your safety and comfort at the table genuinely matters to me. Here is how I make sure every player feels secure and looked after throughout the session: Before the Session Once you've booked, feel free to message me through StartPlaying if there is anything you'd like me to know ahead of time, whether that's a content concern, an accessibility need, or just something you'd prefer to avoid. Everything shared with me is treated with complete discretion. During the Session I use the X Card at my table. If at any point something comes up in the game that makes you uncomfortable, you can type X in the chat or say it aloud and I will immediately move past it, no questions asked and no explanation needed. Your comfort always comes first. After the Session I close every session with Stars & Wishes, a chance for everyone at the table to share something they loved about the session and something they'd like to see in future. It's a lovely way to end on a positive note and make sure everyone felt heard. General Approach My table is inclusive, respectful, and welcoming to everyone. I have a firm open door policy, if anything ever feels wrong during the session, you are always free to step away without judgement.
