About the adventure

You’ve all been chosen by the demigod Drakon to help stop the resurrection of a goddess that’s long been dead and restore the world back to how it was. To the players of this campaign, A black cloud of smoke spread around the world after the goddess Anara was slain, cutting it into pieces lost to time. Your character only knows that one of the 16 countries/continents exist, that being the one which they’re born. Meaning, they only know of a handful of races till y’all meet in session one. (More information will be given once you pick where you're from.) This campaign will be a larger party! If you're not comfortable with that then this might not be for you. (Aiming for one of you from each continent or close to it.) (Session 0s are free, and seats are half off if you bring a friend!)

About me

Hey! I'm MidnightMoxie, a discord DND DM who's been dming for about 6 years. I started playing dnd in high school and fell in love with TTRPGs. One thing that makes me different from other dms is that I use homebrew mechanics in all of my campaigns, one of them being the butterfly effect. I also have a homebrew pantheon that's ever expanding and flexible for whatever a campaign's setting calls for. I like to make my campaigns based on what the players do and where they are rather than having minor set events, though yet again there are always somethings you can never avoid. I tend to run theater of the mind campaigns with a map of the where the campaign will be taking place so you can get an idea of where you are. Sometimes, if the battle is big enough and my tablet's compliant, I'll have battle maps for players to make combat easier. I also utilize Picrew and Procreate to give NPC visuals. I only run Milestone.

Character creation

Creating your character

As long as you send your sheet to me and keep it updated, I'm cool with any kind of sheet (not picky about what website you use or if I get it written on a costco napkin). Starting levels usually are around 1-4. Book bans depend on what campaign of mine you'll be in (ask me about it). Rolling: I prefer you to roll 4d6 and keep the highest 3. You can repeat this up to 3 times and pick between the three stat options you've created. if you're still unhappy you may roll a fourth time... but you have to stick with the fourth roll. During session 0 I'll chip in and help you create your character should you need it. Be ready for me to ask you questions about your character if you've already made your sheet by the time this happens.

The current party

I have mechanics in place to combat the larger party! I've only run larger scale parties in the past, but I have no problem with smaller scale ones. (we have no party yet so there's no details yet haha.)

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Please make sure you have discord downloaded and are okay with me friending you or sending you a link to the server the campaign will be hosted in. Aside from that, if you dont have dice, a dice bot will be provided in said server. Be prepared to use mic or no-mic channels for the session itself.

What MidnightMoxie brings to the table

I provide fun, player driven experiences that build over time, free session 0s, npc voices and art (made by me, new mechanics, and links to spotify playlists that could clue you in as to what's happened/happening or to come. Some of my campaigns come with pinterest boards to elaborate more so on the fashion side of things/what your character might wear if you are from said area. NPCs i dont draw will either have piccrews or a pinterest idea board. NPCs will always have a verbal description as to what they look like.

Homebrew rules

1. Be respectful to each other. (no racism/transphobia/ext) 2. Don't clog up channels with spam, use the channels how they're meant to be used. 3. Don't invite people or bots to the server without my okay. 5. I (as the dm) don't know every single rule out there for 5e so I might not follow by the book mechanics religiously. If there's any issues with that please contact me. 6. If you are going to be late for any reason please let me know at least 30 minutes to an hour before the session starts so I don't delay the session to wait for you to arrive. 7. Even though I allow homebrew for certain parts of character creation I can deny parts of it or all of whatever you want to use if it wouldn't work for this campaign. 8. If there's any issues or complaints please let me know, honesty is the best policy and I want everyone to have a good experience. 9. I can add more rules as I see fit. I use a 3 strike system in all of the campaigns I run. If you break a rule the following will apply to you; 1st strike - you get a warning. 2nd strike - second warning and a chat with me after session (if ongoing) 3rd strike - removal from session (if on going) and a kick from the server. I also use a 3 "strike" system for attendance pings. If you don't reply to a session ping, I will reach out to you in dms to check in and see if you'll be attending or not. If you do not reply to the ping AND my dms for 3 weeks in a row, you will be marked as a bystander. If this happens, please reach out to me in dms so we can talk about getting your player role back. I do have more rules but they depend on what campaign of mine you join. (ask me about it or find out in one of my discord servers!)

How MidnightMoxie creates a safe table

Clear communication! I haven't used any of these methods by name before, BUT I will be using the XNOs going forth as I think it's pretty cool! More or less just send me an X, N, or O and type what's wrong/making you uncomfortable. Ex: "X, can you fade it to black and leave it at that?" or "N, I'm claustrophobic and can't do small spaces of any kind, can you exclude me from it or tell me what not to do to avoid it?" FAIR WARNING!! I tried putting as much content warnings on this as I could but there's no telling what could or could not happen as I run sandbox-style games. Players can request a break whenever they wish, or we'll take a scheduled break every 1hr/1hr 30min if there aren't any taken by that time. Breaks usually are 10-15 minutes but can be longer if requested. No longer than 30minutes so we can all stay on track and keep our minds fresh. (emergencies are an exception to this rule) So no one misses out, Open Doors will usually mean breaking till the person comes back or catching them up when they do (let me know your preference). I'll discuss lines and veils during session 0 and create a document/channel so we can all be on the same page. Session 0s are usually done individually to discuss character creation, lore, qna, boundaries, rules, and anything I've forgotten to mention here.
