About the adventure

Life in your village is not about saving the world. It is about saving the harvest before the first frost, finding out who has been stealing eggs from the coops, helping repair a neighbor’s fence after a storm, and making sure the summer festival goes off without disaster. This is a Tier 1, slice-of-life D&D game rooted in small stakes, personal stories, and the quiet rhythm of daily life. Your character is not a wandering hero passing through. They belong here. They know the roads, the people, the grudges, and the gossip, and over time, they will help shape what this village becomes. This game centers on community. Together, we will build the village as we play, filling it with shops, landmarks, traditions, and the people who call it home. You might help expand the local shrine, restore an old mill, protect the woods that border the farms, or decide what new building the village needs most. Every choice helps define the setting. The village itself is meant to grow alongside your character, becoming richer, stranger, warmer, and more personal with every session. Relationships will be a major part of play. The villagers around you will not just be quest givers, but people your character can grow close to or fall into conflict with over time. Bonds with NPCs can develop across a full range, from trusted friend to sworn rival, from awkward flirtation to deep romance. A blacksmith might become your closest confidant. A childhood friend might turn into a bitter enemy. A local healer, farmer, merchant, or shrinekeeper might become the person your character cannot stop thinking about. The heart of the game is not only what you do, but who you do it for, and who stands beside you when it matters. Where other adventures send heroes into ancient ruins to recover legendary relics, this one may send you into the old root cellar to find out what has been making that strange scratching noise for three nights straight. Where epic campaigns build toward the fate of kingdoms, this story may hinge on whether two feuding families can reconcile before the harvest feast. Where great adventurers slay dragons, you may be dealing with a wolf at the edge of the woods, a flooded bridge, a missing child, or the dangerous feelings stirred up by a long, quiet winter. The stakes are lower, but no less real to the people living here. In this village, a good life is something worth fighting for. What to expect: - Deep roleplay and immersive writing, with a story that puts your character's choices, goals, and growth in the spotlight - At least one post per day from me, with potentially more depending on availability - Art and visual aids to enhance your adventure

About me

As what I'm sure is quite the familiar story by now, I first starting playing D&D5e during the Covid-19 pandemic. At first, it was something that a few of my friends and I did to stay connected and pass the time, but it soon blossomed into a full-grown passion for me. Not long after that game ended, I found StartPlaying, and found an easy way to find games to play in and people to play with. Having played as a player for most of my time, I want to grow as a DM, so hopefully I can help other people looking to play find their outlet.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will use D&D Beyond to create the character sheet. We will be using the 2024 rules update, and all official 1st-party classes and backgrounds are allowed. We will be using the Standard Array (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8) to generate stats. You are able to have one free Artisan's Tools, as well as 100 gold worth of Adventuring Gear.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a Discord and D&D Beyond account to play.

What Evan brings to the table

Upon joining the campaign, you will be invited to my Discord server where the game will take place. Here is where you can chat, post memes, plan your next steps, keep a journal, and more You'll also get access to Content Sharing on D&D Beyond, with all 1st-party content, and a growing list of 3rd-party content I will run the game Rules as Written, but there is always room for Rule of Cool if it makes sense and can be justified.
