About the adventure
This campaign will be medium to long in length, and focused on exploration in a mythical, Fey-controlled realm. Nobody in Revenia knows why the Fey refuse to cross the Cold Iron Mountains, but with their rivals across the ocean in Karakrune busy dealing with an undead horde, the king of Revenia has decided to send his top men over the mountains. And by top men, that means you: prisoners, debtors, soldiers, and renegades. The only people foolish enough to walk willingly into the Freezing Forest. Your reward, if you live long enough to claim it, is a lordly title in the newly settled lands. And of course, all the fat loot you can carry back home with you. Characters will begin at Level 1. The campaign will progress until the story reaches a natural end, until the group schedule falls apart, or until we get sick of it. Milestone progression will be used to keep an even pace. This game takes place in a homebrew setting that has been the stage for 3 full previous campaigns, and numerous homebrewed Backgrounds and Subclasses will be available for those who wish to immerse in the world a little more. Gritty survivalism will not be the focus of this campaign, but actions will have consequences: if you walk out into the snow without shoes, you'll get frostbite. The goal of this campaign is exploration, meeting memorable characters, and shaping the future of this unclaimed middle realm between two kingdoms. There will be dungeons, and there will be dragons, but there will not meticulous bookkeeping. Unless you think that's fun; knock yourself out, in that case. A free Session 0 will kickstart the beginning of the campaign, giving players an opportunity to get acquainted with the world and the homebrew character options.

About me
Hi! I've been playing TTRPG's for 10 years as both a player and a Game Master, with the past two years focused almost exclusively on being a GM. I'm familiar of course with D&D 5e, but also other systems such as Shadow of the Demon Lord, Genesys, and others. I currently have an ongoing 5e campaign set in my own homebrew setting which I've been writing on and off for years.

Creating your character
Players will create characters during Session 0 using randomly-rolled ability scores following standard D&D 5.5 rules. If you already know what you want to play ahead of time, feel free to message me at any time. Character generation during Session 0 is encouraged if you wish to make use of the custom Backgrounds or Subclasses. All officially-published Wizards of the Coast supplements are available for use, third-party material subject to approval.
2 additional players from off-site.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You should have a Discord and Google account. A private Discord server will be created for in-game and out-of-game text chat and voice calls. Character sheets will be on Google Sheets. Owlbear Rodeo is a lightweight Virtual TableTop (VTT) that offers dice and map functionality. I can give a brief tutorial if needed, but it isn't complicated. Invitations to Discord and the Owlbear Rodeo server will be sent upon confirmation you joined the campaign.
What Jesse brings to the table
+ A dedicated Discord server for voice chat during games and discussing the game while away from the table. + Homebrew content such as the Blackjack Background or the Spellscale ancestry, written and designed for the Infinite Plane, based on years of previous campaigns. + The opportunity to influence a living world. The choices YOU make while exploring the Infinite Plane will echo in future campaigns. + Diabolical traps based in realistic form and function, not just a desire to spite players. + An atmosphere focused on fun and cooperation.
Homebrew rules
+ Wild Magic & Mischief: a tarot-based card deck of wild magic effects. Magic in the Infinite Plane is inherently chaotic. Rules explained during Session 0. + Gambling rules based on ability checks. + Diseases! Don't fail those Con saves. + Background Proficiency, an optional rule from the 2014 DMG. + Healer's Kit Dependency: another 2014 DMG optional rule.

How Jesse creates a safe table
Rule 0 is enforced at all times: no politics or other bad vibes permitted at the table, leave all personal beefs behind. The point of a game is to have fun. Those who ignore warnings to drop offensive topics will be ejected. Any and all concerns should be addressed during Session 0 and will be respected.
