About the adventure

Ready for an adventure shaped by your characters, choices, and goals? This homebrew Dungeons & Dragons campaign is built around the players—your backstory and decisions help create the story as it unfolds. Perfect for new players, I’ll guide you through character creation, rules, and gameplay in a fun, relaxed way. Safety is key: open-door policy, Session 0 to set expectations, and regular breaks keep everyone comfortable. Combat is tactical but flexible—flanking works, potions are bonus actions, and ties go to the player—so every session stays exciting. Characters are made with point buy and basic starting equipment; homebrew is allowed with prior approval. Milestone advancement, fixed hit points, standard encumbrance (ignoring coin weight), and all sheets on D&D Beyond make setup simple.

About me

Greetings! I’m the Crazy Cat Lady of Doom, a Dungeon Master with over five years of experience running Dungeons & Dragons, Thirsty Sword Lesbians, and Wanderhome. I’ve led five long-term campaigns and countless one-shots—and I’m still not done chasing adventure! I specialize in teaching players new to the game and/or online play. Whether you’re brand new to D&D or just looking for a fun virtual table, I’d love to guide you through epic quests, heroic choices, and maybe a mischievous cat or two. Let’s roll some dice and craft unforgettable stories together!

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will happen during Session 0. Characters will be built using point buy for ability scores and will start at level 1 with basic starting equipment, unless otherwise noted. All character sheets will be created and managed on D&D Beyond. Homebrew options are allowed with prior approval. We’ll use milestone advancement, fixed hit points when leveling up, and standard encumbrance rules, but coin weight will be ignored.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Before the game, please create free accounts on D&D Beyond, Roll20, and Discord. We’ll use D&D Beyond for character sheets, Roll20 for maps and gameplay, and Discord for voice chat and communication. Please also install the free Beyond 20 browser extension so your rolls from D&D Beyond can automatically appear in Roll20.

What Crazy Cat Lady of Doom brings to the table

When I run Dungeons & Dragons, I focus on creating a welcoming, story-driven game where players can relax and have fun. My tables balance roleplay, exploration, and combat, and I generally lean toward the Rule of Cool when it helps create memorable moments. I aim to run clear, organized games where players feel comfortable being creative, working together, and enjoying the adventure.

Homebrew rules

For my homebrew rules in Dungeons & Dragons, I keep things simple and player-friendly. Flanking is allowed, potions can be used as a bonus action to keep combat moving, and when there’s a tie on a roll, it goes to the player. These tweaks help combat feel a little faster, a little more heroic, and a lot more fun for the table.

Safety

How Crazy Cat Lady of Doom creates a safe table

When I run Dungeons & Dragons, player safety and comfort come first. I use an open-door policy so anyone can step away at any time, start every game with a Session 0 to talk about expectations and boundaries, and build in regular breaks so everyone can recharge. My goal is to create a welcoming, relaxed table where everyone feels safe, respected, and ready to have fun together.
