About the adventure
Here in The Dales, peace reigns and always has. Here, the Dalish swing scythes and not swords, cast fertility rituals and not battle-hexes, throw provincial festivals and not decadent balls. Although their verdant lands carry scars and echoes of long-forgotten horrors, most folk pay them little mind, taking for granted the pleasing respite. Unfortunately, this wonderful peace seems to be waning. Merciless raiders from the dreaded highlands threaten the borders, uncanny and bloodchilling creatures of twilight brew mischief and ruin all over, and a mysterious and overwhelming power returns to pursue arcane and distressing ambitions. To face such grave challenges, the slumbering, complacent Dales will have to rouse quickly and forge from its unassuming ranks some unlikely heroes, who must grow and develop quickly if they are to have any chance of preserving their treasured peace. This campaign will be set within The Hearts of Ravensdale setting and draw heavily from the setting book for inspiration, including lore, maps and settlements, cosmology, multiple magic systems, many colourful characters and a tantalising mystery at the heart of it all. It will aim to immerse players, both new and old, into a sprawling yet intimate rustic fantasy, attempting at every possible opportunity to evoke that "tender feeling of the legendary." Hearts of Ravensdale is all about unlikely heroes, accustomed to village living, being faced with never-before-seen dangers, laborious tasks and journeys, and uncanny, mysterious forces. It is about unlikely heroes battling insurmountable odds and the inevitable changes they undergo as the stakes get ever higher. Those adventurers looking for a roleplay-heavy experience that leans hard into theatre of the mind and building images and moments to marvel at will find themselves right at home here. However, you can rest assured, all you combat-oriented players, that there will be many opportunities for enthralling battles and nailbiting showdowns. The Legend in the Mist system, although it strives to do away with number crunching, lacks for nothing when it comes to facilitating thrilling fight scenes, which can be approached in hundreds of exciting ways. Starting from such a detailed setting book as Hearts of Ravensdale truly is a boon for any campaign. As a result of the fully-realised world of The Dales -- its maps and settlements, history and mysteries, might and magic, and factions and faces -- players will have a blast blending into this cosy, fantastical world, and learning what it means to be a Dalish hero. So, if you want to delve into the Legend of the Mist system and explore its endless possibilities, book your seat at the table now and get to daydreaming about your Dalish hero.

About me
Ever since I was a child, I‘ve always liked acting, making up stories, and playing make-believe. I attended drama classes and got cast in school plays. The usual. Eventually, I grew up and took this love of the arts all the way to university, where I studied, you guessed it, Drama. It was also there that I discovered a little game called DnD, a game which combined my love of games and acting into one truly intoxicating pastime. I played a frightened warrior, a tone deaf bard, and many more intriguing characters. At one point, I had no GM to run games for me, so I tried the GM hat on for size and realised, after much fine-tuning, that I loved making the games more than I loved playing them. Suddenly, I could not only play one character, but a whole world. I loved providing my friends with eccentric characters to converse with and thrilling situations to work through, and so my time as a forever GM began. And it has continued till this very day. As well as playing DnD and other TTRPGs, I also study script writing and linguistics. I love studying complex systems like grammar and story structure. By day, I am actually an English teacher, so I spend most days talking to people all over the world, explaining difficult grammar to them with patience and enthusiasm, a skill I’m sure I picked up from somewhere(:
View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
Character creation should be an undiluted joy for players and game masters. I like to pursue this with a mixture of one-on-one plotting sessions with each player concerning their individual characters, before throwing a free, very fun session zero, where all the players can forge their characters' connections, envision their home village, and even play a short session to get the ball rolling and learn the basic rules of the game. All details for characters will be recorded on the Foundry VTT through Forge hosting, so players don't need to worry; everything will be provided for them. All they need is a Discord account and a Forge account, both of which are free.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
All details for characters will be recorded on the Foundry VTT through Forge hosting, so players don't need to worry; everything will be provided for them. All they need is a Discord account and a Forge account, both of which are free. We will be using Discord and a browser-based VTT (Foundry VTT) for sessions. A link to the Discord server will be made available.

Safety
How GM Arron creates a safe table
Safety is a key concern for me when hosting games. Everyone at the table must feel safe and comfortable. There is an absolute ZERO TOLERANCE policy on any kind of racism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia and misogyny. Anyone making such remarks or expressing such vile opinions will be removed from the game immediately. We are all here to connect as people, not punch down or assign labels. I will also make sure to always encourage people to message me with any complaints they might have so that I can try to mediate and adjust where possible. To make sure that the utmost is done to ensure everyone's comfort while playing, we will use the following safety tools: Line and Veils, Open Door, Breaks, Session 0, Stars and Wishes, and X cards.
