About the adventure
You died. It wasn't heroic. it wasn't meaningful. Maybe a truck. Maybe too many ramen cups. Maybe you choked on air because the universe has a sense of humor. However it happened, you found yourself standing in front of something that might have been a god... if gods looked vaguely human shaped, embarrassed and kept avoiding eye contact. "Look..." it said, "that really wasn't supposed to happen. My bad. Complete clerical error. But here's the thing, I can't actually undo it. Cosmic rules. Very boring. Very firm." So instead, it offered you a deal, a new life in a world that needs help. Not because you're chosen. Not because of prophecy. Just because you were in the wrong place at the wrong time on earth and this god has a guilt complex. Welcome to Atheria. A high fantasy realm teetering on the edge of physical and political disaster. Decades ago, the original hero who arrived much like you did, along with his party representing a united front, defeated the Demon Lord and saved the world. Now they're old, tired and mostly ignored, living relics in a world that forgot to be grateful. The kingdoms they united have fractured into squabbling factions too busy nursing grudges to notice the shadows gathering at their borders. A threat is looming. Waiting. Growing. It's patient because it can afford to be. The world isn't watching. And now you're here. Not heroes. Not chosen ones. Just ordinary people who died stupid deaths and got reincarnated as an apology. Tone: Isekai meets epic fantasy drama. Your characters have every right to be confused, frustrated, and occasionally hilarious about their situation. But the stakes are real, the world is in danger. Game Style: Play-by-Post on Discord. Deep roleplay encouraged. Combat descriptive and strategic (with options for grid-based or theater of the mind using Avrae). Your choices matter. The god might check in sometimes. It's still a little awkward about everything. Players: All experience levels welcome. If you love isekai anime, stories about legacy, or just want to play a character whose official backstory includes "death by vending machine," this is your table.

About me
Hello there! I'm Liam, a tabletop enthusiast in my mid-20s who has been lucky enough to be on both sides of the GM screen for nearly two decades. For me, the perfect session is a rollercoaster. I aim to create a space where we can experience the full spectrum of emotion together. One moment, you might be sharing an in-character joke that leaves the table in stitches. The next, a villain's monologue might hit a little too close to home, or a beloved NPC might make the ultimate sacrifice. I believe It's in these moments that a game becomes more than just a game. it becomes a memory. Ultimately, my job is to be your guide, your biggest fan, and the person who asks, "Are you sure you want to do that?" with a knowing smile. My goal is that at the end of every session, you feel a profound sense of satisfaction, knowing that your choices mattered and you've built something incredible together. If that sounds like your kind of game, I can't wait to roll dice with you.

Creating your character
We'll handle character creation during Session 0 in discord. This ensured everyone's on the same page and that the party has cohesion. Step 1: Your Earth Self Tell me about your life before the accident. What was your profession? Your hobbies? Your embarrassing cause of death? (The god is very apologetic and definitely wants to know about the vending machine incident.) This background will inform your Cheat Skill, a bonus feat reflecting your modern knowledge. Step 2: Your Fantasy Self Using the 2014 D&D 5e rules, you'll build the body you wake up in. Starting Level: 3 (experienced enough to survive, new enough to grow) Stats: Modified array, 17, 16, 15, 13, 11, 10 Race and Class: Player's Handbook Subclass: Player's Handbook, Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide, Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, and Xanathar's Guide to Everything. Bonus Feat: All players receive one free full feat at level 1 representing their Earth Self's Cheat Skill Characters will be made on D&DBeyond.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need D&DBeyond (Free) and Discord (Also free). A link to the server will be provided after you've joined.
What Liam brings to the table
Atheria will react to you. The fractured kingdoms have memories, grudges, and politics that evolve based on your actions. The original five heroes are out there, somewhere. The apologetic god? They're watching. They feel really bad about the whole "accidental death" thing and might check in sometimes. Very awkwardly. Roleplay: Deep character interaction is the heart of this game. I love giving NPCs personality, quirks, and secrets. I'll paint vivid pictures with words so you can sink into your character. Combat (2 Options depending on player preferences): Option 1: We use Avrae to provide a grid, maps and tokens. Avrae helps automate by tracking turns, managing hp and automate attack rolls and damage. Option 2: I describe the scene, enemy positions and environmental details narratively. You describe your action narratively, Avrae will still be used for dice. Pacing: Play-by-Post gives us time to breathe. Scenes can unfold naturally. You have space to write thoughtful responses, plan conversations and really live in your character's head. Rule of Cool > Rules as Written: Within reason, of course. But if your character wants to try something creative, dramatic, or hilarious using their modern knowledge? I want to see it. Since this is text-based, I'll use: Rich, descriptive prose for locations, NPCs and key moments Threads to keep scenes organized (main story, side scenes, downtime, OOC chat) Ambient descriptions that hint at the growing shadow, the wrongness in the air, the nightmares villagers won't talk about, the sense that something patient is waiting. Character Focus Your Earth Self matters. Your death matters. Your modern skills matter. I'll weave your backstories into the world, maybe the god accidentally pulled you from the same moment, maybe you died in unrelated ridiculous ways and the god just lumped you together apologetically. We'll find connections that make the party feel like found family (or found disaster, depending on your vibe). Safety & Comfort Open Door policy: message me anytime with concerns Regular check-ins after major story beats Respect for Lines and Veils established in Session Zero A judgment-free space to explore your character's growth, humor, trauma, and triumphs What I Don't Do: Voice acting (text-based game, so you're safe from my attempts at accents!) Live sessions (this is asynchronous Play-by-Post only) Punish you for not knowing obscure rules (we'll look things up together) Bottom Line: You get a GM who's invested in your characters, excited about the world we're building and genuinely here to make sure everyone has a great time telling this story. The god may or may not pop in occasionally to ask if you've forgiven them yet. (They're working on it.)

How Liam creates a safe table
Our Session Zero is mandatory and covers: - Character Introductions - Tone Calibration (how much humor vs drama feels right) - Lines and Veils - Combat Preferences - Posting Expectations - Any Questions or Concerns During play, you have three options to communicate comfort levels without worry of disrupting the scene: X: "Stop immediately. We've crossed a line." I will halt the scene, pivot, and check in privately afterward. No questions asked. No judgment. N: "Pause. I need a moment." Maybe the content is getting intense, or you need a breather. We pause the scene, check in, and resume when ready. O: "All good. Continue." Used when someone checks in and you want to confirm you're comfortable. DM me directly if you prefer privacy. Open Door Policy: My DMs are always open. Always. You can message me at any time during a scene, between posts, in the middle of the night about: A concern you don't want to share publicly A question about content Something that came up in game that you want to process Literally anything I respond within 24 hours, usually faster. No question is too small, no concern is silly. Breaks & Aftercare Breaks: If a scene gets heavy, I'll build in natural pause points. You can also call an N card anytime. We can take a few hours, overnight, or longer before resuming. Debriefing: After major story beats, emotional scenes, or intense sessions, I'll create a dedicated OOC thread to check in: "How are we feeling?" "Did that land okay?" "Anything we should adjust going forward?" Between Arcs: At the end of each story arc, I'll send a brief anonymous feedback form. What's working? What's not? What do you want more or less of? Content Boundaries in Practice: I err on the side of caution. When in doubt, I fade to black or ask before describing something potentially intense. Romantic or sexual content fades to black automatically. Always. This isn't that kind of game. Community Expectations: Players are also expected to contribute to a safe environment: Respect others' boundaries No racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, or bigotry of any kind Disagreements happen, handle them respectfully in OOC or DM me If someone calls an X or N, support them without question Failure to respect safety tools or community expectations will result in removal from the game. No exceptions.
