About the adventure
A death curse sweeps across the world, harvesting souls and drawing the world closer to darkness. With each passing day, the curse spreads and claims more souls. You've come to a bustling port city at the edge of the forbidding, undead-infested jungle in hopes of finding the lost city, putting an end to the death curse, and saving the world. About me
Hello. My name is Shane. I was introduced to RPGs when I was 12 years old and was hooked from my very first session. I have been playing and running RPGs, on and off, for the past four decades and hope to continue for many more! I have run many different games and genres over the years, but my favorite is fantasy. My GM strengths are game pacing, improvising scenes, and involving players. I have run games for a wide variety of players over the years. By my rough count, I have gamed with over 500 people and ran 31 longform campaigns to completion. Finally, I would be honored to be your GM and take you on the adventure of a lifetime!

Creating your character
Your character will begin play at 4TH level and use Standard Array (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8) or Point Cost (27 points) for Ability Scores. We'll use Roll20's 5.5e D&D character sheet and I'll share these resources in the character builder: Player's Handbook (5.5e) Arcana Unleashed (5.5e) Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerun (5.5e) Ravenloft: The Horrors Within (5.5e) Mordenkainen’s Monsters of the Multiverse (5e) Tasha's Cauldron of Everything (5e) Xanathar's Guide to Everything (5e) Notes about mixing 5e and 5.5e content: If there's a 5e option that's not available in 5.5e that fits your character concept, you may select the 5e option. If any disparity exists, we’ll default to 5.5e rules, e.g., if there's a feature that exists in both 5e and 5.5e and their mechanics are different--we’ll use the 5.5e version Some notable character creation differences between 5e and 5.5e: Species (previously races) in older books include ability score increases. If you use a species from a 5e book, ignore those increases and use only the ones given by your background. Backgrounds in 5e books don’t include ability score adjustments. If you’re using a background from an older book, adjust your ability scores by increasing one score by 2 and a different one by 1, or increase three scores by 1. None of these increases can raise a score above 20. Also, if the 5e background you choose doesn’t provide a feat, you gain an Origin feat of your choice.
Start at 4th level. Current party consists of a Tabaxi Paladin (Genie), Half-Orc Barbarian (World Tree), Halfling Wizard (Abjurer), and Shadar-Kai Druid (Moon)
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You'll need a desktop or laptop computer with a dedicated microphone for Discord voice chat. You'll also need a Discord account and a Roll20 account (both are free). Please note, Roll20 works best on a computer and doesn't work very well on a phone or tablet. You don't need to know how to play D&D, use Roll20, or Discord to join this game. I'll guide you through onboarding and make it easy to join this campaign. While it will be helpful if you already have rulebooks and/or know how to play--you don't need to. This is a perfect campaign for complete beginners!
