About the adventure
The law of the Imperial Unity is simple: be compliant, or be crushed. In a tiny village on the planet of Renga, villagers are roused from their homes in the middle of the night to gather in the town square. What they witness there will spark a new chapter - for them, for their planet, and for the galaxy. Is it worth fighting against an unstoppable force when the odds are not in your favor? Is the high risk of death for so many worth the sacrifice if a regime can be toppled? Will you be kindling in the fire, or the fire-starter? ~~~~ Welcome friend! If you have not yet caught onto the themes for this asynchronous Play By Post campaign, I have a sincere love for sci-fi and the worlds of Star Trek, Star Wars, Firefly, Dune, and so much more. This campaign will lean heavily into Star Wars tropes and themes - while being set in an entirely separate universe. There is no Force - but there is magic available to a select few - through deities, spirits, ancestors, and so on. There are no Jedi or Sith, but there can be anything else we'd like to imagine and create together. Generally speaking, this campaign will be sci-fi forward - heavy on the technology, alien races, and galactic-sized forces and factions pitted against one another. I am presently running another PBP campaign that is set in an entirely experimental setting and playing with the existing Daggerheart tools. We have had to be creative with homebrew but it has worked very well so far! I absolutely love welcoming brand new players or first time players to Daggerheart, so please join us! Players will design their own characters - more on that below since Daggerheart has only kind of created a method for homebrewing new Ancestries on their online Demiplane platform. The beauty of a sci-fi galaxy is that you really can have massive creative flexibility with the appearance of and what type of character you'd like to play! Let your imagination run wild! The campaign will start with characters at Level One and we'll proceed from there. Aiming to get us to Level 5 so that you can experience the differences in the leveling up process through Daggerheart. There are many new options when you hit the level 2-4 tier, and then many other new options at levels 5-7. Looking for players who love to be creative, role-play well with others, and enjoy a classic TTRPG combat sequence. Can't wait to have you join us!

About me
Hi, my name is Wynn. I am a dad, volunteer, and attorney who lives on the east coast. I'm originally from Western NY (Go Bills!) and have lived in a variety of places around the country. In my day job I get really stressed out, so this is what I do for fun! I had parents who would never have let me near DND as a kid, but who also encouraged me to embrace the worlds of Tolkien, Lewis, L'Engle, and so many more. I grew up with friends who would make wooden swords with me and reenact Redwall scenes out in the grove of trees behind their house. My imagination ran wild. In primary and secondary school, and then in college as well, I became invested in theater of all kinds - Shakespeare, musicals, opera - you name it. I loved being on stage and behind the scenes as well. Given all of those things - it only makes sense that when I finally stumbled upon the world of TTRPGs as an adult I felt like I had found what I'd been missing for such a long time. I dove in head-first, inundating myself first in the work of Critical Role and then on from there. I GMed many times before ever having the chance to play myself, but have been fortunate to be a player several times now - including on a recent (and fantastic) Daggerheart campaign through SPG! I can't wait to connect with more amazing people.

Creating your character
We will spend time creating characters over the first week or two of the campaign - depending on how long it takes to get a full-crew (or enough to get started). I have content-sharing available through Demiplane to help everyone get the access they'll need to create characters. Once you have decided to join, we will connect and I can get you plugged into the campaign over there! Everyone will start at level 1. Here's how we'll manage the fact that Demiplane/Daggerheart does not truly allow us to homebrew species/ancestry yet: every player will select "Mixed Ancestry" - and then, depending on how you've imagined the ancestry of your character, you will select the two ancestry features that you think best reflect your intended species. There are mechanisms for homebrew for a physical game - helping you create your own cards. But for a virtual game we have to be more flexible. For weapons and the like we are able to take existing weapons and re-skin them in the platform to fit the setting - I will help you do that! For example: if I was playing a Twilek, I would pick Mixed Ancestry and then proceed to the selection of a top of card trait and a bottom of card trait. For example, I may pick the following: High Stamina (a human ability giving an additional stress slot), and Nimble (a Simiah ancestry ability that gives a +1 bonus to Evasion). If none of this is making sense just rest assured that I will be more than happy to work through the creation process with you. For the purposes of our galaxy, all classes and subclasses will be in-bounds so to speak.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
At the moment the only tool you'll need is a Demiplane account (to design a character) and a Discord account. Everything we need will be accomplished primarily through Discord with the help of some handy dandy bots! Instructions on how to use those (Avrae & Tupperbox; Daggerheart Dice) will be present in the discord server.
What WynnSome brings to the table
I am hoping that this campaign will feel very organic and come together with a mutual love for story-telling in a sci-fi setting. As GM I will provide many NPCs with rich history, demeanor, personalities, and more. I will help construct memorable settings and "lay the table" with rich written descriptions of locations, interactions, etc. As needed, I will take the reins on pacing to help us stay on track and make sure you feel like you're getting as much out of this process as well. I always want to emphasize players loving the game and feeling safe enough to have the best experience possible. Definitely a fan of Rule of Cool - if it furthers the narrative and doesn't defy setting logic, tell me what you want to do and we'll figure it out together from there!
Homebrew rules
As mentioned above - this is a Star Wars inspired campaign setting. We will be on our own planet, in our own galaxy, and we can have a significant amount of flexibility in the more creative portions of play - character creation, languages, lore, etc. Generally speaking we will maintain the regular core mechanics of the Daggerheart system. As I mentioned above - for weapons and the like we are able to take existing weapons and re-skin them in the platform to fit the setting - I will help you do that! We can also discuss whether your species might have natural skills or biology that grants them certain advantages that we can just keep track of ourselves. For example: if you design an aquatic species then it would make sense for your character to be able to breathe underwater and swim well! Or if you design a character with an appendage that can interact with machinery, then it will give you advantage on checks that include operating/hacking/etc. Not every character needs to have something like that - and I obviously will reel you back in if you come to me with a character who has far too many of these characteristics. But let's have fun!

How WynnSome creates a safe table
Prior to beginning any game with me, I will have you complete a Digital Participant Agreement/No's & Go's Form. The Agreement & Form cover everything from: 1) What to expect from me and my game-style as far as topics, etc. 2) What content is out-of-bounds from the start - my hard lines. 3) What your big No's are (things you are uncomfortable with and don't want in your game). 4) What your Go's are (things you are comfortable with - at various levels - and ok with in your game). 5) My expectations of all participants regarding PC to PC conduct and interactions. 6) The tools/rules in place to help us maintain and monitor throughout game-play as things come up. And more. In my day to day life I work in the middle of situations where boundaries of all kinds have been crossed - personal, community, legal, and others. So I don't want to have to deal with that type of conflict in my free time if it can be avoided! So if you aren't down to be cool, stay calm, and keep things chill - then you'll probably want to look elsewhere.
