About the adventure

The world of Daimalko, once green and lush, has been devastated by giant monsters known as colossi for hundreds of years. As a recruit of the New Valor Defense Force's 13th squadron of elite mech pilots known as "huzkars", your duty is to defend the surviving population, in particular the last bastion of civilization: the city of New Valor. You will suit up in your valkos - mechs specially designed for fighting the colossi. Find comradery and rivalry with your fellow huzkars, and head out together into the wastes to hold back the tides of destruction! This game is open to all skill levels of Starfinder 1e players and will involve combat in and out of mechs. The rules for mech combat will be explained in the course of the game.

About me

Hi, I'm Andrew! When I'm not GMing, I'm a language and martial arts instructor. I'm nonbinary, I love cats, and I dream of one day designing and building automated greenhouses. I love all sorts of games, but I absolutely love the freedom and creativity that springs from tabletop roleplaying games. I have been playing for over 20 years, starting with 2nd edition D&D, and I started GMing about 9 years ago with Starfinder. I have run Starfinder, Star Wars FFG, Numenera, and Star Trek Adventures. My favorite adventure I've run so far is Starfinder Mechageddon!, an epic game about a squad of mech pilots on a world overrun by giant monsters called colossi.

Character creation

Creating your character

We'll create level 3 characters in Hephaistos before the first session, then transfer them into Foundry. All official Starfinder 1e books are allowed, and there will be opportunity for custom mech creation after a certain point in the story. We will also be using the Free Archetype rule.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a Discord account and a microphone for this game, as well as a computer that can handle Foundry VTT. Webcam is preferred, but not required. You will receive a link for my Discord server when you sign up.

What Andrew Ensign brings to the table

I use Foundry VTT to create an immersive experience for players, utilizing visual and audio effects, along with custom tokens for each player. I also do character voices, and while we use the rules as a guide, as much as possible I embrace player creativity and the Rule of Cool, because it's your story!

Homebrew rules

No set homebrew rules, but I am open to reasonable homebrew! Please run any homebrew by me first, and together we'll make sure it's balanced and fits the setting.

Safety

How Andrew Ensign creates a safe table

I will communicate privately with each player to find out their boundaries, and we will cover what sort of content you can expect in the game in Session 0. I have digital safety tools in all my Foundry games, but players can also always DM me directly on Discord during the game as well. We will take 5-10 minute breaks every hour or so.
