About the adventure

---The Backdrop--- Montana, 1886. South of the Big Snowy Mountains, near Swimming Woman Creek, the Sutton family established a ranch during the height of the Open Range era in 1876. What began as a modest homestead has grown into a thriving frontier settlement known as Snowmelt Hollow. Snowmelt Hollow stands as a symbol of opportunity and ambition in the untamed West. But not all is well. The Chippewa Cree Tribe, long rooted in this land, has begun to clash with the Sutton Ranch. Once peaceful neighbors, tensions now simmer for reasons no one fully understands. This campaign blends real historical events, such as the Open Range expansion and the coming hardship of the Big Die-Up, with a dark and mysterious narrative woven into the fabric of the frontier. ---The Investigators (You) --- You may have come to Sutton Ranch seeking honest work, driven by debt, ambition, or the need to escape your past. Or perhaps you heard the rumors. Strange sightings in the forests near the mountains. Bizarre creatures glimpsed in the snow. Whispered stories from the Chippewa Cree of an ancient evil presence and a prophecy tied to the land itself. Whatever brought you to Snowmelt Hollow, you are about to confront unimaginable horrors in the brutal Montana winter. ---The Vibe of the Game--- This is a dark Western mystery set against the harsh beauty of the American frontier. You will investigate strange occurrences, uncover buried truths, and decide where your loyalties lie. Is this a simple land dispute fueled by fear and misunderstanding, or is something far older and more sinister awakening beneath the snow? This game blends gritty Western drama, supernatural horror, and investigative storytelling. If you enjoy frontier survival, moral complexity, slow-burning mysteries, and the looming dread of something watching from the treeline, this adventure is for you.

About me

I have been playing RPGs since I was 10 years old, when my older brother invited me to join one of his games. I fell in love with roleplaying almost immediately and I have never stopped playing since. I studied Game Development and Film Production. I love writing, traveling, and playing games of all kinds, with a special place in my heart for RPGs. You will quickly notice that I am very creative and energetic, which naturally led me to the GM seat. Building worlds and crafting stories is a true passion of mine. Working together with you to create a story that you will always fondly remember is one of the most rewarding parts of the experience for me. My friends and players often describe me as a diplomatic and thoughtful GM who genuinely cares about everyone’s enjoyment at the table. I am a good listener, and I always aim to create a welcoming, fun, and engaging experience for everyone. I lived in Dublin for three years, where I studied Film Production and English. I have now been GMing for 27 years now, and I GM for people from all over the world for more than seven years now.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will take place before Session One so we can begin the adventure immersed in the story. We will use Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition rules, and all investigators will be ordinary people living in 1886 Montana or investigators travelling to the Sutton Ranch of investigate what's happening there. I will guide you through the process, help you choose an appropriate occupation, and make sure your character fits the historical frontier setting. I encourage grounded, flawed investigators with personal motivations, since this is a slow-burn investigative horror campaign where sanity is fragile and survival is never guaranteed.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

All you need is a Discord account and a web browser. We will use Discord for communication and Foundry VTT to play the game, so there is no need to download any additional software.

What Pedro-GM brings to the table

I will provide all the necessary books for you to create your characters, and I will gladly help you through the entire process. I love doing character voices and creating detailed maps for my games. I also have a great repertoire of ambient music to help with immersion. (You can always lower or mute the music if you prefer.)
