About me
I'm Chap, the Dungeon Master Dad. And yes, I am truly a dad and I love running adventures for players of all skill levels. My number one rule is: TTRPGs are a safe space. This is a place where you can be whoever you want and explore your imagination. There is no room for hate or discrimination at my table. I want my players to experience joy, freedom, laughter, and acceptance. As for my experience, I'm just starting out as a professional GM, but I've been running games for friends for more than three years. I'm most familiar with D&D 5e and 5e 2024, but I've also started to learn Daggerheart. My games are highly inspired by my love of fantasy, comics, science fiction, and Critical Role, as well as my time growing up in the 80s and 90s and my Filipino-American heritage. Having worked in book publishing and film, developing stories and rich characters is probably my deepest passion. And I love taking the characters and backstories my players create and working together to weave a fun, emotional, and thrilling tale. If all this seems cool with you then let's play.

Creating your character
I have premade characters to choose from or players can build characters before or at session 0, ideally in the Roll20 builder. Players can use D&D Beyond if they have the Beyond20 extension on their browser. Stats can be created using Point Buy or Rolled (Roll 4d6 drop the lowest), but I must see the rolls either in Roll20, D&D Beyond, or an image of IRL dice DM'ed to me. HP can be rolled or average, whichever is higher. Standard equipment to start, substitutes approved on request. Any home brew or 3rd party content not in my Roll20 game will need review.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Links to my Roll20 game, Discord server, and Monte Cook safety doc will be provided upon joining. You will need a Roll20 account and a Discord account to participate.
What Chaplain brings to the table
Expect a combat heavy game with flavorful mechanics tossed in for fun. I try to make my tables immersive with voices, music, and fun combat maps. I definitely lean Rule of Cool but do try to stick to Rules as Written most often. And I run a safe table where everyone is welcome.
Homebrew rules
The most homebrew you might see is in my monsters. I like to tweak ideas and stats to surprise and exceed expectations.

How Chaplain creates a safe table
Safety is number one at my table. All players, LBTQ+, BIPOC, and players of any skill level are welcome. I like to use the Monte Cook RPG Consent Checklist, and you can DM me any specific lines and veils that you need.
