About the adventure
Welcome to Ravnica, a world-spanning city where ten powerful guilds control everything from law and warfare to secrets and the dead. As agents, defectors, or wildcards tied to these guilds, you’ll navigate back-alley deals, magical crime scenes, and political crises that can reshape entire districts. This campaign uses Guildmasters’ Guide to Ravnica as its foundation: guild backgrounds, contacts, and rivalries matter. Your character’s guild will give you missions, enemies, and hard choices. Expect investigations, tense negotiations, daring infiltrations, and set-piece battles when plans go sideways. You don’t need to know Magic: The Gathering or Ravnica lore beforehand. The city will be introduced through NPCs, rumors, and the consequences of your actions. If you like stories where your faction, reputation, and choices matter, Ravnica is your playground. In this version of the campaign, I enhance the experience using curated Magic: The Gathering (MTG) cards as immersive props and homebrew augmentations. We will be drawing from playermade decks and your hand will afford additional opportunities or restrict your manaflow.

About me
I like to run player-driven RPGs where your character, backstory, and decisions actually change the world around you. My tables range from published adventures to deeply customized living-world campaigns, with an emphasis on player agency, memorable NPCs, exploration, mysteries, and meaningful consequences. I do also run linear modules for story driven campaigns, but don't prefer them as much. I try to sandbox those as much as the story and module allows. I also build highly customized virtual tables with tactical maps, handouts, character art, atmospheric audio, and interactive Foundry scenes when the game benefits from them. New players are welcome—I enjoy teaching systems, provide pregenerated characters when useful, and adjust the balance of roleplay, exploration, puzzles, and tactical play to fit the group. I like to learn new RPGs and systems so picking up a new game type is easy and enjoyable. As said, I prefer open world type DMing based on the players backstories and play preferences. I never liked railroaded scenarios or DMs that ignored the actual players. That is why I got into DMing. I like to create open worlds when I can and do use or start from premade scenerios sometimes but like to create the world.

What Tyler Branch brings to the table
Thematic integration of Magic: The Gathering cards. I have a system for 5e integration. I provide a fully prepared Foundry VTT game with campaign-specific maps, NPCs, handouts, encounters, audio, and the custom tools used for this campaign. Characters use D&D 5e rules, but Planeswalkers have additional MTG mechanics built into the game. Mana, color identity, summons, instants, counters, and converted MTG abilities are handled through the character sheet and Foundry instead of requiring you to stop and play a separate card game. When an ability maps cleanly to a normal D&D spell or effect, it uses the normal D&D mechanics. I’ll help with character creation and with building your Planeswalker: home plane, color identity, spark/ignition event, what planeswalking means for the character, and how their Magic themes translate into D&D abilities.
Homebrew rules
We will be drawing from a deck integrated into Foundry which you'll have a hand to work with for additional gameplay rules which will be explained. There are multiple 5e integrations which will be explained.
