About the adventure
Welcome to the Magaambya, the oldest and most prestigious academy of magic (and the only academy of monsters) in the world. In this P(oké)F2E Pathfinder campaign, each player begins with a bonded Mwangi Expanse Pokémon companion. You will study magic and combat together, and you will explore the mysteries of the Magaambya. As you meet and catch other pokémon near the school, your partners will become more than allies in battle, also learning and growing alongside you. As your bonds with pokémon deepen, you will attend lessons, build friendships and rivalries, uncover hidden dangers to the academy, and face those supernatural threats alongside your pokémon. Your character and team will rise from students to leaders, and may ultimately help to decide the fate of the Magaambya itself. This game is ideal for players who enjoy: - Character growth and long-term storytelling - Meaningful companion bonds and creature partnership - Magic school, academy life, and found-family themes - Exploration, mystery, and collaborative problem solving A blend of Pathfinder fantasy with Pokémon-style gameplay will lead you through an academic experience like no other on Golarion, and also toward a darker conspiracy that threatens the Magaambya's legacy and future. No prior Pokémon experience is required, but this adventure is best for intermediate-level (or higher) Pathfinder 2E players. Whether you come to master magic, bond with your companion, uncover the secrets of the Magaambya, or any combination thereof, your pokémon journey begins here.

About me
Hi all! I’m Jamie Emma, the Game Master behind Cozy Critical, a space where I hope to bring collaboration, cozy fun, and epic adventure together for people's enjoyment. Tabletop games should provide a restful outlet that helps us disconnect from the real world for a little while; I hope that my games can provide that for you! My table guidelines: - All are welcome, so long as you are welcoming to others. - Practice active listening during games. - Collaborate with other players when given the opportunities. - Allow other players their moments of spotlight. - Published, third-party and homebrew content may be used only if it has been vetted by me and it has a functioning Foundry VTT module to make gameplay accessible. My focus as the GM must remain on storytelling, not building computer automation for one's character. With over 5 years as a GM, 7 years playing TTRPGs, 6 years as a middle school science teacher, and 3 years in higher education I bring rich game mechanics together with an environment where players can feel comfortable learning new systems and trying new things. My goal is to create welcoming games that blend character development, emotional fantasy adventure arcs, and hopefully the right amount of chaos and silliness. Between a professional virtual tabletop setup and my past experience leading fantasy games, streaming TTRPGs, podcasting, and performing theater, I offer a strong foundation for us to build something special at the table. Whether you are new to TTRPGs or have played longer than I have, I hope you'll join me for some collaborative fun. Thanks so much, and I look forward to telling unforgettable stories together 💫

Creating your character
At Level 1, all students receive: - One Ancestry and associated Heritage - One Background - One Class ---> Excellent Options: Druid, Magus, Ranger, Witch, Wizard ---> Good Options: Anything else except Summoner. ---> Not Recommended: Summoner (may become convoluted with Eldamon rules and pokémon rule add-ons). ---------- At Level 2, all students receive: - "Eldamon Trainer Dedication" (if not already playing the Eldamon Trainer as their Class). See "Battlezoo Eldamon" for more information. - "Beastmaster Dedication" - One of the following: ---> "Wizard Dedication" (if not playing the Wizard as their class) ---> "Druid Dedication" (if not playing the Druid as their class) ---------- Official Paizo Player's Guide: https://paizo-images.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/image/download/Strength+of+Thousands+Players+Guide.pdf
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Once you sign up for the game, I will share a Discord server invitation link with you :) All of the links you will need to explore the rule-set, to set up an account on our Virtual Tabletop, and to begin planning a character concept will be located in the Discord server.
What Jamie Emma brings to the table
I will take care of the world-building, NPC voices, in-game music, virtual tabletop, rules management, and player engagement. All I need from you is a willingness to explore the setting and build a story together! I have also put in a great deal of work to import and convert 1,025 pokémon from PokéAPI into Foundry VTT, creating statblocks for every pokemon.
Homebrew rules
As you level up, all of your classes and free archetypes will gain feats (at the appropriate levels). ---------- For Pokémon: - Ancestry = Pokémon Species (with PF2E-inspired typings that accurately reflect the canon) - Heritage = Pokémon Body Plan (determining movement speeds) - Background = Pokémon Nature (influencing skill training and attribute boosts) - Class = Combat style associated with an umbrella type of its canon pokémon typing (Elemental, Endure, Magic, Spirit, or a combination thereof if dual-typed). ---------- *Note: Other than the above homebrew rules, I do not allow homebrew character options in my games unless written by a 3rd Party Publisher, paired with an updated Foundry VTT module, and vetted by me as the GM.
