About the adventure
This Campaign set in the Homebrew universe of Terra Nostalgia— a setting designed after a post-cyberpunk world with retro-futurist characteristics. *Expect Heavy RP, with combat encounters customized toward the narrative and themes of the story. *Expect a living world, with NPCs that feel alive and an environment that responds to your actions (and inaction). *Expect a commitment to make sure your characters are fully integrated not just into the narrative, but into the nitty-gritty of the world and its themes. Greetings Exocolonists! After years of travel through warp space, the colony ship you were on has just made landfall in a distant alien world. This was not the planned destination. A malfunction with the ship's warp drive threw you off course, left to the whims of the celestial wilderness. Was it luck that found you and the rest of colony appearing before a lush planetary body, seemingly unclaimed and brimming with life? Was it luck that this veritable Gaia-land presented itself to you just as your ship was entering it's last legs— with damaged engines, low fuel, and dwindling supplies? Was it luck, or could it have been something more? Unfortunately you and the others do not have the luxury of pondering this question. While the brunt of the colony stays behind to secure the landing area, a small group is being sent out to find an ideal settlement location— a group that includes you and the members of the player party. So go forth Exocolonists, venture out into this brave new world, learn of its flora, its fauna; its vibrant nature and its hidden secrets. Survive an unfamiliar alien environment as you manage the struggles and hopes of your settler community. There's no turning back Exocolonist, so go— go and claim this new frontier!

About me
Hey all, I'm a forever DM for about 5 years who has worked primarily with D&D 5e, and my love for TTRPGs began alongside a love for world-building and co-operative storytelling. As I began building my worlds, I wanted to have people interact with them, play in them, tell stories through them; and TTRPGs provided a perfect outlet. Over the years I've DM'ed a number of different groups, and a couple long-term ones; and the one thing that I continue to love seeing more than anything else is my players immersed and enjoying themselves as the characters and stories they weave into these worlds take shape and become something truly wonderful.

Creating your character
You can create a character directly through roll20 using its charactermancer (I have content sharing enabled with many character options for you to use for free, if there are any official content that is not amongst the shared material, you're still free to use them.) (Alternatively, you can create your character in D&D Beyond, where I will directly copy your character sheet onto roll20) -Characters start at level 3. -Ability Scores must be generated through Point Buy or the Standard Array. -Hit Points for the first 3 levels are maxed -Multiclassing and Feats are allowed. -Characters may replace their background feature for a feat at level 1. -Customizing Your Origin and all optional class features are allowed. -If you would like to use homebrew materials, speak with me before character creation and we can discuss it. Regarding Equipment: -You gain the starting equipment from your class. Should they be interested, players may also present character ideas that do not necessarily fit with what is provided by the official class/race options; which can be further developed between player and DM during the character building period. The details regarding character building will be discussed in the Session 0, and players can work on building their characters after the session. I usually give my players a week to finalize their characters, and if they have any questions or help with the process, they're free to reach out to me through discord.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
The only requirements I ask from my players is to have a Discord account, a working Microphone, and a Roll20 account. Familiarity with the rules would make things easier for me, though I'm more than ready to walk newcomers through the rules, I've done it plenty of times and I don't mind doing it again. On that same note: New players need not worry about being unfamiliar with the system, I'll cover all there is needed to know regarding the character creation process, the UI of roll20, and the mechanics of D&D 5e proper during the session 0, and will continue to facilitate a comfortable environment for you through the campaign.
What Aaron L brings to the table
The game will be played through a number of maps and scenes provided by me through Roll20 for better scene visualisation and interactivity. Players can provide me with a character image for their token, alternatively I can create one for them, should they prefer. I support both Roll20 character sheets and DnD Beyond character sheets; you can pick whichever works for you. Granted, I do have a number of sourcebook material available in roll20 for tor the players to work with, should they be interested. Regardless, all published WotC content is also allowed at my games in case there are options players want to try but are not able to be provided by me.

How Aaron L creates a safe table
This campaign takes place within a post-cyberpunk/science fantasy homebrew setting. While I am aware that there are other systems that cater to such genres, I decided to stick with DnD 5e due to convenience and familiarity, both on my part as a DM and for any potential players. This does mean that many elements from traditional DnD are reflavoured to fit the setting, though all relevant changes will be communicated with the players. The games I run will often include a number of adult themes, including, but not limited to, descriptions of graphic violence, swearing, etc. There will be a free session 0 wherein any concerns or questions regarding the content of the games can be discussed and adjusted accordingly. Roll20 itself has a number of safety features integrated within the client, and I always encourage any of my players to make full use of them whenever they see fit. Furthermore, players are always free to contact me directly through discord during and out of sessions, for whatever questions or concerns they may have. Much of what serves as the primer for the campaign (character building, questions about the setting/world, Roll20 tools and UI, atmosphere and tone, and any other questions) will be covered and discussed in the free Session 0. Once everything is set and everyone's satisfied, we'll be ready to get started proper with Session 1.
