About the adventure

Interested in exploring the sandbox that is The Delalands?? Then this adventure is for you! I emphasize character building and growth in my games and spend a fair amount of time helping you build PC's that are narratively rich with backstory and motivations for adventuring. A character's drive toward adventuring really anchors players in the world we are building together. I'm big on conceptual roleplaying, meaning choosing actions based on your characters' motivations and skillsets. I don't care about voice acting at all- it's all about living in their shoes. Nothing is more evocative than a detailed description of your character and how you see them in this world. I'd like to run The Dalelands as a bit of a sandbox, since the new campaign guide encourages this. That said, I really like to immerse my players with art and music, so I do like to have a pretty strong idea of which threads my players are most interested in following ahead of time. I like a mix of exploration, mystery/puzzle solving, NPC interaction, and combat. I do my best to keep combat brisk. I like rules but all of them are malleable with enough reason. I'm a pro-pc gm, meaning, I want my PCs to succeed and thrive so the players can collaboratively build rich, memorable stories together. I'm pro LGBTQIA+ and hope to have gender diversity in my playgroups. I typically use Roll20 but have mostly been playing games in person, so I'll need to shake off some rust!

About me

I'm a DM specializing in DragnaCarta's "Curse of Strahd Reloaded" campaign. He has built a deeper, cohesive, story driven version of everyone's favorite Gothic Horror 5e module. I've been DM'ing actively for 6 years and have 2 groups playing in person through this masterfully re-worked campaign. I'm also launching a Sandbox-y adventure set in The Dalelands!

What DM Teddy B brings to the table

I like to play music and I do some voices, but I'm no voice actor. I like humor and grisly details as long as everyone is comfortable with that. I find rules to be malleable as long as we all agree it makes sense and is, most importantly, fun!

Homebrew rules

Potions as bonus actions is ok. I also use one max level of dice when Critically Hitting. I also have a modified inspiration system as an option. We can agree on these during session 0. I'm all about whatever is most fun for everyone. And my players should be open minded to compromises for the benefit of the table.

Safety

How DM Teddy B creates a safe table

We will discuss line and veils in session 0. Players can use X cards or whisper chats to me in Roll20 if something is crossing a line. Any interpersonal issues between players should be discussed with me in private, out of session. One major caveat is my games are typically PG-13 with romance, but R with combat gore/ epic finishers. I also like gross monsters, slime, and spooky stuff. I have included some issues of Race in my content warnings. This campaign will likely feature Drow. I am a fan of older lore where the Drow fall into two different camps, where one sect is ruthless and sees themselves as racially superior. All of these "race" relations, a term I often replace with heritage or species, just come from the lore. Think of the Legolas/ Gimli interplay as an example of this. These are merely story elements to add tension and motivation and do not reflect my world view in any way.
