About DM Teddy B
I'm a DM specializing in DragnaCarta's "Curse of Strahd Reloaded" campaign. He has built a deeper, cohesive, story driven version of everyone's favorite Gothic Horror 5e module. I've been DM'ing actively for 6 years and have 2 groups playing in person through this masterfully re-worked campaign. I'm also launching a Sandbox-y adventure set in The Dalelands!

I got started GMing...
by finally playing D&D in 2019! When the pandemic hit, I went all-in and started digitally DMing as many games as humanly possible.
People are always surprised when I tell them
that DMing is, in my opinion, an underutilized therapeutic tool. It brings people together in such a unique way, it's truly incredible.
When I'm not running games I'm...
in school to get my teaching credential to become a high school English teacher.
How DM Teddy B runs games
I'm a character/ narrative based DM, and I'm very pro-player. I focus on team building and group bonding. I have no interest in killing off my PCs- but I encourage immersion and teamwork. Session 0's and collaborative character creation are mandatory. I do some character voices, but it's not my specialty. I like rules but am open to bending them when I see reason. My mission is to make my PC's feel powerful, through their heroic characteristics, teamwork, and their ability to help NPCs in need. I love using music and sound to immerse players. I have a 0 tolerance policy for "lone wolves"- this a "party" party y'all. I also encourage roleplaying through action rather than performance. I'd rather have you make choices your character would make based on their background and skillset over just using a funny voice. I also discourage saying "I want to make a perception check." I'd rather you tell me what your character is doing, describing their actions and I'll be the one to tell you what sort of check that would be. This immerses you into the mindset of your character which deepens the immersion and experience. I love a good mix of combat and roleplay- I try to keep combat fast and fun and do my best to avoid a slog.

I prep by
spending way too much time on little details! But the more I do this, the more comfortable I feel in my role. I like to be a able to respond to questions from PCs as quickly and seamlessly as possible.
Rules are...
malleable. As long as your idea is cool and doesn't feel unfair to other players, let's do it! But remember, the more rules we break for players, the more rules their adversaries should be able to break as well.
When it comes to voices
I do my best. I try to make characters distinct. I actually discourage voices from my players. I think their effort is better placed in "thinking" like their character. I award inspiration based on choosing actions or reactions in situations based on their characters skillsets and motivations.
DM Teddy B's ideal table
I'm all about collaboration. I want my players to succeed as a group. It's all about coming together to defeat a threat or solve a problem that any single party member would be unable to on their own. I like humor and epic imagery. I want my PCs to feel powerful, and I mean that in more ways that just being strong...

I am for a vibe that's...
all about deciding what's most fun. Party member should always try to lift one another up, which is also what I like to do as a DM.
I love it when a player
thinks to act like their character. For instance, a ranger with an outlander background would likely look for clues based on tracks or actively search their surroundings for useful items for survival. They would less likely be willing to engage in a conversation with a nobleman or some other more
