About the adventure

This campaign combines aspects of many different horror-related styles in a survival setting. Cosmic, Folk, and Body Horror are all included, with some standard run-of-the-mill survival to top it off. Journey to the City of Whispers is my attempt at Lovecraftian horror, with a bit of flavor thrown in. I hope to inspire fear and suspense in the characters, while impressing my players with twists and turns.

About me

I prefer to run more horror based campaigns, specifically cosmic horror, eldritch horror, and suspense style. I enjoy taking my time to get to know my player-characters and incorporating their backstories into campaigns. I like to follow the book for most campaigns while using the Rule of Cool to add little plot twists and story interpretations.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will be handled in DnD Beyond during Session 0. Although it is a Homebrew setting, I prefer non-hombrew content use on Beyond as it is less likely to be broken and will work more smoothly with the app. As a DM I prefer when players focus their characters on a few things to be good at, and work as a team. When creating characters please be mindful of other characters' strengths and weaknesses, since I will be throwing a variety of situations in front of the party, both combat and RP related.

The current party

The party should be well-rounded, as the context is that of a research team meeting up with a local guide to make their way through a fully homebrewed map that is not specifically connected to any other region in the D&D multiverse.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

I want to keep this simple and just use Discord for voice, and Beyond for character creation and the Virtual Tabletop.

What Drazah brings to the table

I prefer a balance of RP and combat, but I'm not a stickler for either. If you explain what you want to do and why you feel it should work, chances are I won't always make you roll for it. IMPORTANT: Engaging in RP is great, but please try to avoid bickering either as characters or as players. MUSIC: I don't currently have a good way to play my playlists as ambience, so until I figure that out feel free to bring your own. Unless it's meaningfully important, generally I like to follow Rule of Cool, though I will refer to Rules as Written in the case of disputes that could significantly change the course of events.

Safety

How Drazah creates a safe table

In session zero we will discuss the potential issues that may arise, but I am solidly against characters or NPCs participating in sexual assault. I try to avoid instances of harm to children in my campaigns except where it is cannon (Hags, unseely fey, etc.). I am more than happy to accommodate any other possibly sensitive subjects since the horror genre can be brutal, surprising, and unexpected. As far as lines and veils, we will develop a party-specific document during session 0. I like to set aside 10-15 minutes after session where everyone can give feedback in a calm setting.
