About the adventure
Setting — A Kingdom on the Brink This campaign takes place in a once-prosperous realm now unraveling under the weight of a long-buried oath. Cities struggle to maintain order, ancient magic stirs beneath the surface, and powerful factions compete to shape what the future of the kingdom will look like. You’ll travel from haunted frontiers and war-torn battlefields to intrigue-filled courts and otherworldly realms as the truth behind the realm’s fall slowly comes to light. Tone — Dark Fantasy with Heroic Choice Expect a cinematic dark-fantasy atmosphere: tragedy, mystery, and high stakes balanced with moments of heroism and hope. The story leans serious and immersive, with moral choices that matter and a world that reacts to your actions. Think epic fantasy with shadows — where victories feel earned and consequences are real. Core Mechanics & Playstyle This is a story-driven D&D 5e campaign blending: • Narrative roleplay and character arcs • Investigation and uncovering secrets • Exploration across a living world • Tactical, meaningful combat encounters Player decisions shape alliances, outcomes, and even the state of the world, creating a campaign that evolves with the party rather than following a fixed path. What Makes This Campaign Unique • A central mystery that unfolds over the entire campaign • A reactive world where choices have visible consequences • A balance of political intrigue, epic adventure, and personal stories • A strong narrative throughline that ties character backstories into the plot • Cinematic set-piece moments and world-level stakes Whether you enjoy deep roleplay, unraveling lore, or facing dangerous battles, this campaign is designed to deliver a cohesive story where your characters truly matter. What You’ll Experience A sweeping dark-fantasy journey about legacy, power, and the cost of broken promises — where the fate of a kingdom rests in the hands of the party.

About me
Welcome to the Table—Leave Your Boring at the Door Let’s be clear: I like to have fun. The kind of fun that makes you say, “Wait... did we just ride a beholder like a rodeo bull and survive?” I’ve been around the gaming block more times than a bard's been kicked out of taverns. I've played just about every version of Dungeons & Dragons and a smattering of other systems, from high fantasy to "why is this pigeon carrying a gun?" Whatever the world, my goal is always the same—make it epic, make it cinematic, and for the love of dice, make it fun. Now, I’m all about the Rule of Cool. Want to parkour off a wyvern’s head while firing a crossbow upside down? If it makes sense and sounds awesome, hell yes, let's roll for it. But here’s the deal: Cool doesn't mean chaos. We still play by the rules—this isn’t a lawless wasteland. It's more like... a very stylish heist where the DM is the alarm system, and you're trying to outsmart me with flair and minimal property damage. Mostly. I welcome all kinds of players, from dice-slinging veterans to curious newbies who still think THAC0 is a brand of chip dip. But remember: this game isn’t about you steamrolling every scene like a caffeinated murderhobo with main character syndrome. We’re here to build a story together. Everyone gets a spotlight, everyone gets a say, and yes, even the guy who named his character “Blüdgør the Edgelord” gets a chance to shine. So buckle up, bring your best ideas, your worst puns, and your most questionable battle plans. If you’re ready to play hard, laugh harder, and maybe cry a little when the talking sword you adopted dies heroically, then welcome to my game. Let’s raise some hell—with a proper initiative roll, of course.

Creating your character
Players are welcome to create their characters before Session Zero using the campaign guidelines, though I recommend keeping backstories flexible so we can build connections between characters and ensure everyone starts with at least one meaningful relationship in the party. Characters are created using a custom point buy, maximum starting hit points, milestone leveling, and any official race, class, background, and feats. During Session Zero we’ll review characters, finalize party bonds, and make sure everyone fits the tone and setting.

How to Prepare for the Game Before your first session, please complete the following steps so everything runs smoothly: 1. Join the Discord Server Voice chat, announcements, and session communication happen on Discord. You’ll receive an invite link after booking your seat. 3. Have a Working Microphone Clear voice communication is required so everyone can participate comfortably. Headsets are recommended to reduce background noise. 4. Optional: Prepare Your Character You’re welcome to create a character ahead of Session Zero using the campaign guidelines, though backstories can wait so we can build party connections together. What Chris brings to the table
I aim to create a fun, engaging environment where you feel both challenged and celebrated. I will be your toughest opponent and your biggest fan - cheering you on as you overcome epic battles while pushing your characters to their limits. Combat will be intense, tactical, and rewarding. Smart play and teamwork can turn the tide. Expect strategic encounters that make use of terrain, movement, and clever thinking. I bring scenes to life with character voices and ambient music, helping to create an immersive experience that enhances both roleplay and tension. My GM style strikes a balance between Rules as Written and the Rule of Cool. I call it “cool within the rules” - expect the game to be fair and consistent, but also cinematic and flexible when it makes the moment better. You’ll always know where you stand, and you’ll always have room to shine. Whether you're a veteran or new to Dungeons & Dragons, I’m here to help you have an unforgettable adventure.

How Chris creates a safe table
Your fun, safety, and comfort at the table are top priorities. This is a space for heroic stories, shared creativity, and respectful collaboration. I use the X, N, & O Cards safety system: X = I need this to stop right now N = I’m not okay with where this is headed - let’s shift or fade to black O = I’m good - let’s continue These tools are always available during play. You can type X, N, or O in chat, say it aloud, or message me privately - whatever feels most comfortable. We’ll also take at least one break each session so everyone has time to rest and recharge. Session 0 will include: • Tone and themes discussion • Character creation and party connections • Safety tools overview (including X/N/O and the Deck of Player Safety) • Boundaries and expectations • Q&A so everyone feels prepared and supported Stars and Wishes are encouraged after sessions so you can highlight what you enjoyed and note topics you’d prefer to avoid or keep off-screen (fade-to-black). This helps us keep the game aligned with everyone’s comfort levels. After each session, you’re always welcome to reach out with feedback, questions, or concerns — I’m happy to talk and make sure you’re having a great time at the table.
