About the adventure

Alya Finch, the ill tempered often mouthy daughter of wealthy merchant Mateo Finch, has been kidnapped. Your party has been called to help rescue her and do so quietly. The disappearance of Alya could be bad for business if word gets out that a criminal element could be so close to Waterdeep. You will be asked to make some uncomfortable alliances and even fight to save Alya, and maybe even yourself. Your persuasion and your very sanity will be tested as your are haunted by what awaits in The Broken Citadel.

About me

My first ever character was a dwarf totem barbarian who would take his pants off for fights because I did not understand unarmored defense.....and my barbarian really loved to fight, but that isn't the point. I do not take most things very seriously and believe that dnd should be the same. I love the fun, lighthearted escape from reality that sitting across the virtual table provides. Really my goals are to have a few good laughs, and maybe roll some death saves? Must have: Dnd beyond with the Beyond20 chrome extension Roll20 Discord

Character creation

Creating your character

We will create characters in session zero. We will hold session at least a week before the first session. I can do a session zero with everyone so we can all meet each other, or I can meet one on one. There is no charge for session zero as it is just a way to make sure the game can start as smoothly as possible.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a DND Beyond account. I will share a URL to my campaign prior to session zero. Characters will be made there. Also you should have Roll20 as that is where the map and tokens will be present. It is not mandatory, but HIGHLY recommended that you use Chrome with the Beyond20 extension. This will allow you to roll directly from DND Beyond into Roll20 seamless gameplay. I would not recommend trying to use dnd beyond on a phone or tablet as the overall experience is not great in my personal opinion.

What Kevin brings to the table

As a GM I tend to go off of the vibe of my players. I do character voices and LOVE when players will use character voices for their characters as well, but it is certainly not necessary. I do like to keep things light hearted and joke around, however, fights are serious from time to time. I do realize not everyone wants fights that could be deadly, not all of mine are. However, when you do get into a fight please understand bad guys are bad. There are things that will definitely want to kill you. It is my job as a GM to make the game fair, and also give the game some stakes. However, if you as a party decide character death is something your group is interested in, I can accommodate that as well. I tend to stick to rules as intended, but if you have a cool use of something we might do it once as rule of cool. I don't mind bending some rules, but I refuse to allow for some loony tunes interpretations of rules. As an example you can't stand still while in battle, hold up a board and attempt to hide. Yes, it has been attempted.

Homebrew rules

When in battle, and only in battle, you can drink a health potion as a bonus action and roll for the healing, or as an action drink the health potion for the guaranteed max healing from that potion. Death Saving throws are sent only to the GM and try not to tip other players off about the results of the rolls.

Safety

How Kevin creates a safe table

I have a pretty open door. During session zero let me know if there is anything you don't want covered, or have any specific triggers that I can avoid. During the game, if things are bothering you, please feel free to shoot me a dm, or we can always call a time out and talk about things mid session. My goal is to provide a good time for everyone involved. Your enjoyment is my top priority so I will always try to maximize your comfort to the best of my ability.
