About the adventure
If you've been playing D&D 5e and want something new, you're a beginner, or you're an experienced veteran, come experience this Pokémon inspired monster-capture campaign where adventures await. Welcome to Soulbound Legends! (SESSION 0 IS FREE!) In the ancient realm of Aetherion, power is forged not from steel alone, but from the souls of creatures bound into crystalline cards. Young adventurers from across the land gather at the Soul‑Smith Academy, where their journey begins in the depths of the Proving Hall — a trial that will test their courage, their wits, and the bond they forge with their very first captured companion. What starts as a simple rite of passage soon spirals into a sweeping adventure across guild‑ruled cities, forgotten ruins, and wild frontiers teeming with creatures both wondrous and deadly. As the heroes rise through the ranks of the Eight Guilds, whispers of an ancient prophecy echo through the land — a prophecy foretelling the return of a devourer of time, a being whose awakening could unravel the world itself. Shadows stir in secret places. A masked faction moves unseen. And the Soul‑Smiths’ greatest teachings may hide truths long buried. In a world where every creature can become an ally and every bond shapes destiny, the heroes must uncover the meaning behind the prophecy before it’s too late. When the final seal breaks, what choice will you make?

View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
1) Players will create their characters during the first session, session zero. This game is beginner friendly. I will be assisting players through the process. 2) Stats will be decided by rolling four six-sided dice for each stat. If you roll a 1 or 2, those can be rerolled. Once rolled, the highest three numbers are added together to create your stat. 3) All playable characters will start out at 1st level. Again, this game is beginner friendly. Playable characters have the potential to achieve 20th level and beyond. 4) For creating characters, all players need are a pencil (or pen) and paper. I prefer to keep things simple. All players will be responsible for maintaining their character sheets. As a precaution, I will also be making a copy of each player's character sheet. 5) Pertaining to character creation, players should look at Dungeons & Dragons 5e Player's Handbook and Soul-Smith, a homebrew class for this campaign I'll be attaching as a Google Doc.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
1) Players will need Zoom, or have the ability to join a Zoom meeting, in order to play. 2) Players will be required to join the Discord chat/group for this campaign. This way they'll be able to discuss with me as the GM outside of game, ask any questions they might have, and converse with fellow players. 3) As mentioned above, players will need to gain access to the book and Google Doc for this campaign. I will be providing the links for these materials.
What Jordan brings to the table
1) Of course I do character voices. How else am I gonna enjoy myself? 2) I do use tactical combat. I encourage my players to really get into their characters and think strategically and outside the box. Sometimes thinking outside the box can gain you rare loot or a special item. 3) I also encourage heavy roleplay. You've committed to your character, so dive in. I reward better loot for heavy roleplay as well. 4) I embrace the Rule of Cool for the most part, unless it relates to something we actually need the rules for like class upgrades, weapon damage, or what a particular feat does.
Homebrew rules
1) Soul-Smith is a new homebrew class for this campaign if players wish to take it. 2) I'm introducing a monster capture system called Soulcards. They work similar to magic items in D&D 5e and we will go over them during the first two sessions. 3) Similar to Pokémon, players will be using their captured monsters when battling against opponents. 4) At certain intervals (i.e. when a playable character reaches a certain character level) monsters can be made stronger. When players reach this stage, we will cover how to upgrade their monsters if they choose.

How Jordan creates a safe table
1) I will be providing a link to the Lines and Veils doc for this campaign. Players should view it and fill it out before session zero. 2) In session zero, I will be going over character creation, how X, N, and O's will work, my GMimg style, Rule of Cool vs rules, the open world gaming concept, and answering any questions that weren't already answered in the Discord. 3) As for aftercare, I plan to check in with my players, ask for their feedback on the session, and go over any wishes they may have. 4) For X, N, and O's, players are free to either message them or hold them up on video. Though, to be honest, it's easier for me as a GM if players hold it up on video.
