About the adventure
Survival Challenge is an anthological survival-adventure game, which is intended to be played with the same players, using different characters for each adventure. The first adventure will be a classic "washed ashore" on a deserted island, where these non-survivalists must figure out how to survive. They must constantly deal with the threat of dehydration, starvation, sleep deprivation, weather events, wild animals, dangerous plants, and hostile natives. Being rescued is a matter of statistical probability, starting in the range of 0.5%, or 1-in-200, and going up increasingly as each month passes. The landscape is brutal, so not all characters, both NPCs & PCs, will make it. The goal is to stay alive and get rescued as quickly as possible, increasing your chances by building large bonfires, spelling out SOS for aerial recon, repairing emergency beacons, etc. Once the adventure concludes, another is selected, like a plane crash in the Andes Mountains or cast out to sea on a raft. The new adventure will use new PCs, but the hope is that players stick around to enjoy adventure after adventure. In the event that a PC dies, what happens is up to the player, they can either enter "spectator" mode, take over any surviving NPCs in the group, or possibly make a new character with less Character Points than the group. The game uses GURPS, a system with great thorough rules on all kinds of things, like the penalties for Missed Sleep, challenges of starting fires, and how Fatigue & Injuries hamper the body as it wears down. It has brutal rules that mirror reality, including slow HP regeneration, a need for Food, Water, & Sleep, and other survival staples, like tool maintence/construction, injury patching, encumbrance, etc. If you'd like to play this game at a different day or time, please feel free to message me! About me
I am a longtime TTRPG GM that loves Pathfinder & GURPS, with a large library of books, art assets, and time to share with my players, it is my favorite thing to do. I am a huge fan of roleplay and often modify mechanics to benefit storytelling & session fluidity. I use Foundry VTT, which is free to my players, and includes vast customization options for every campaign & every participant. Please take a look at this Google Sheet for all of my GURPS games: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1OIi-Yp_5L2k4LvJ_L-YxgZ_YF7QIsZr4h0PIoit8fKM/edit?usp=sharing

Creating your character
Characters will be made in GURPS Character Sheet (GCS) a free program with a large database of character-building assets. The characters are made with 100 Character Points, -40 Disadvantage Limit. Each player will get a chance to consult with the other players in the Discord server, but ultimately will end up making the character with the GM, before their debut on Session 1.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Have a Discord & Forge Account, as Discord is used for all communication and The Forge is used to host the Foundry VTT game. Players should also read GURPS 4th Edition Basic Set, Chapters 1 - 4 to learn how to make an average character. Additional reading ideas will be provided during the character-making process as well as during the Session 0.
What John brings to the table
Foundry VTT, which is free to players, a library of GURPS 4e books that will be available to players, and custom art assets & maps, some powered by AI. Ambient music will be used to set the tone and mood of a location or scene. The players will be expected to roleplay heavily throughout the adventures, and will be provided with Intrigue regularly and Combat rarely.

How John creates a safe table
The GM and players will have a Session 0 where they discuss content they don't want to see, and how to go forward so everyone is happy. Players can also discuss breaks, as needed, for longer sessions.
