About the adventure
The streets of Havenport are dark, dirty, and unforgiving. Mud and smoke choke the Lower Districts, rats scuttle through the alleyways, and every shadow hides danger. For those born here, or those brave enough, or desperate enough to arrive from across the sea; survival is a daily battle. This city doesn’t just test your skills; it tests your morality, your patience, and your will to endure. Havenport is a city on the edge. A self-serving Duke rules over an island of intrigue and corruption, commanding noble houses that control trade, soldiers, and industry while the city’s factions scheme in secret. The Tinker’s College controls utilities and science, the Hammerfist Dwarves demand payment for the old city they built, guilds jockey for power, and thieves’ clans war in the shadows. A mysterious cabal known only as “The Keepers” watches it all, pulling strings no one fully understands. It’s a world where alliances are fragile, betrayal is constant, and even the smallest action can ripple into disaster or opportunity. Players begin their journey in the docks and slums of the Lower Districts as level 3 adventurers scraping to survive, climb, or simply endure. Early trials are immediate and harsh: disease, starvation, crime, and corruption press from every angle. As they navigate the city, uncover its hidden secrets, and manipulate factions to their advantage, they gain influence. Districts can be improved, or left to rot. Notoriety and infamy rise with every daring maneuver, and the choices players make reverberate throughout the city, touching politics, commerce, and the lives of thousands. Havenport isn’t just a city to survive; it’s a world to shape. Players uncover conspiracies, enact revenge, and wrestle control from those who have ruled unchecked for generations. They will face moral dilemmas, hard decisions, and the knowledge that even small missteps could plunge the city, or perhaps the world, into chaos. And just as the city trembles under the weight of its own corruption, a prophecy long ignored begins to awaken. Ancient forces stir beneath the foundations of the island, and the players must decide if they will confront what comes next or be crushed by it. Havenport: Blood & Copper is a dark, immersive campaign for those who thrive on grit, intrigue, and morally complex choices. The city will push you to the edge, but within its alleys, workshops, and shadowed halls, glimpses of hope and power await those daring enough to seize them.

About me
I am a former award-winning stage actor, writer, and director who has been playing Dungeons & Dragons since 1998 and GMing since 2001. Over the years I’ve run Advanced D&D 2nd Edition, 3.0/3.5, GURPS, Star Wars, Rifts, Vampire, Marvel Multiverse, DC Universe, Wheel of Time, and many many more, before finding my home again in 5th Edition. At the table, I specialize in immersive storytelling, cinematic voice acting, and character-driven narratives. I create living worlds filled with complex NPCs where player choices matter — shaping the story and weaving backstories into a larger campaign arc. My goal is to give players the chance to grow their characters into legends in ways that feel personal and memorable. When I’m not running games, I stream on YouTube and Twitch or gather my family around the table to share the joy of roleplay.

Creating your character
Once you have your accounts and equipment ready, and your character prepared, you’ll be all set to join the adventure. Level & Stats: Starting Level: 3 Stats & Abilities: Roll, point-buy, or choose what feels right — whatever works for you. The goal is a character you’ll enjoy playing and that’s ready to dive into adventure. Races & Classes: Nearly any combination is welcome with DM approval. If something would be tricky to integrate, we’ll work together to adjust. Your character should be the one you’re excited to play, while keeping the world coherent. Character Philosophy: Build the character you love. Backstory, personality, quirks, and goals all shape the story from the start. In Session Zero, we’ll connect your characters to each other and the world, setting the stage for stories that are truly yours.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
When & Where: Create your character before the first session. We’ll collaborate—either privately or in a shared Discord thread/email—to make sure your character fits your ideas and the story we’re telling. Early collaboration ensures your character is part of the world from the very first moment. How Should Players Prepare? Before the first session, players should complete a few simple steps to ensure they can jump in smoothly: Accounts: You’ll need a free Roll20 account for maps, tokens, and character sheets, as well as a Discord account to join the campaign server. Discord is where we’ll coordinate schedules, share resources, and stay in touch between sessions. Equipment: A microphone is required so you can fully participate in roleplay and conversation. Make sure you do a mic check beforehand. Very important. A webcam is optional but encouraged to help the table feel more connected. I'll never tell you to use a webcam, but I do encourage it, as it makes it so much easier to tell when someone is done talking.
What The Chaos Shaman brings to the table
When you play at my table, you can expect a rich, immersive experience designed to make your character feel alive and central to the story. I use heavy roleplay, distinct character voices, and in-character dialogue to bring NPCs and the world itself to life. Ambient music and sound effects are incorporated to enhance the mood, making dramatic moments hit harder and exploration feel more vivid. Combat is strategic, cinematic, and meaningful, but not overbearing—I balance tactical challenges with pacing that keeps the story moving. I embrace the Rule of Cool, giving players the chance to pull off bold, creative moves, while still maintaining consistent rules to ensure fairness and balance. Above all, I aim to create a player-centered table where choices matter. Your backstory, relationships, and decisions will actively shape the world, and every session is designed to reward creativity, clever thinking, and roleplay. Expect intense moments, emotional beats, and opportunities for your character to shine in ways that feel personal and memorable.
Homebrew rules
We only have a few rules that are changes to the game. Anything we homebrew is usually a benefit in some way to making the game more fun. Such as: CHRIS PERKINS CRIT Drinking a potion is a bonus action, BUT if you do it as an action, you get max effect without rolling. I use a custom flanking rule of +2 to hit for more dramatic battles. Death Surge Ability: Voluntarily fail a Death Save to move 1/2 your movement rate, cast a cantrip, give someone else inspiration or pull off a last minute act of bravery in your last moments. Your Heroic Inspiration are now called "Cool Points" and can be spent on more than a reroll. You can spend it for an extra attack, give a friend advantage, auto-pass a death save, among other cool things. These points stack and there's no limit to the amount you can hold onto.

Safety
How The Chaos Shaman creates a safe table
Players are free to message me at any time. We can discuss triggers beforehand as to make sure we avoid them. During game play if something gets uncomfortable, simply private message me an "X" and we change scenes immediately. No questions asked. I will also discuss things in Session Zero so the whole table hears the same safety discussion.
