About the adventure

You and your crew arrive at Aurum 80, a forgotten corner of a forgotten sector in a dying universe: divided between rival gangs, crewed with malcontents, survivors desperate for work, and non-phys VR drug addicts. Your crew have just acquired a ship on the cheap, but with a catch: a 500 holo docking fee debt to pay off. What's more, it is need of repairs and refuelling. Rumour also has it that the stations ringleader will soon arrive to restore order, something that will doubtless entail violence. Your task, to pay your debt, repair and refuel your new ship, and get of this cursed station before it is engulfed in a malestrom of violence.

About me

I've been playing TTRPGs since early 2016, and running them almost as long, having first picked up my first GM Book in September of the same year. I am a forever GM, and a very happy one at that. DnD, Death in Space, Mork Borg, and Warhammer Dark Crusade all feature in my roster of games. Warhammer Fantasy will always hold a place in my heart as my first ever Roleplaying Game, both played and ran. I have run games for dozens of players, friends, co-workers, and strangers. I recently GM'd two games at DiceConLviv, and I run several campaigns in the same ever evolving DnD world for paying players.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters can be created beforehand, made with the system's (un)official character generator, or made with the GM before the session.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

I will provide all necessary materials that players must review, and players will be expected to give a listen/watch/read to a handful of background materials to ensure that the game can kick off successfully and quickly.

What Josh Upton brings to the table

The session will contain a mix of tactical combat, diplomacy, exploration, and negotiation with NPCs, all directed by player choice in how to resolve the scenario they face. Character voices, ambient music, and background scenes will all help create an immersive atmosphere and set the scene. I tend to GM from the Rule of Cool side of the spectrum, especially in one shots, but will always ensure fairness between players should their own interests come into conflict.

Safety

How Josh Upton creates a safe table

I make use of lines, veils, and X cards. What will be included and how to make use of them will be established before the game and can be altered during time outs from play. My own lines are limited but I am open to any and all player requirements. The content of my games can be heavy, so the safety of my players is important to me. I operate an open door policy between sessions of longer campaigns too, to ensure there is always a safe space for feedback and requests.
