About the adventure

Hey there! Wanna play some high-level D&D? Wanna revisit settings that haven't gotten enough attention over the years? Wanna save the world? Wanna kill some baddies? Well then, you've come to the right place. This is a laid-back table where you can reasonably play as any kind of character you'd like. Game Balance is the job of the GM, not the players. Full-bard party? Got it. All nature-based subclasses? Got it. No Cleric? Pshaw! I find your lack of faith disturbing. (But not ungameable!) Let's kick some ass and save the multiverse!

About me

Here at Nym's Adventures, we believe in a player-oriented approach to pay-to-play tabletop gaming. We're here to bring your stories to the forefront of the adventures published by Wizards of the Coast. We use the modules as a backbone to craft customized sessions for your characters. I began running online games in Summer 2019 after playing with several game masters who didn't seem to care what the players were trying to say with their characters or with their choices. I decided to give the community the kind of attention and enthusiasm I wanted to see in a game master. I've been trying to embody that ideal ever since.

Character creation

Creating your character

We are starting at level 11. Character Creation is officially done during Session 00, but here's the info so you can tool around beforehand. CREATION GUIDELINES: - STATS: Point Buy or [18, 16, 15, 13, 12, 7] - GOLD: 20,000 GP plus normal starting equipment - MAGIC: 2 Common, 4 Uncommon, 3 Rare, 1 Very Rare DnD Beyond (and the Beyond Plug-in) are where characters live. We will have Roll20 sheets so our tokens are connected to something, but Beyond is canon. Sources: Anything available on DnD Beyond, but we are using 2024 rules, including the guidance on backwards compatibility.

What Nym's Adventures brings to the table

We have it all. A huge music and soundscape library to set the mood. Dozens of voices and accents to bring the characters to life. Handouts and art to spark your imagination. And much, much more. The game fits around the characters. The rules are guidelines, but anything not specifically spelled out is up for grabs. Even then, the story matters more than anything. Have a cool idea you wanna try? The worst thing that could happen is a TPK, so let's do it! I'm here to help you tell your story and present challenges for your characters to overcome. I'm not here to wipe the party or punish your characters for their (or your!) mistakes.

Homebrew rules

We use the Roll20 critical hit/miss cards. They're about luck, not skill. Even Superman got punched once or twice. Death saves incur exhaustion under certain circumstances. Nearly dying is a trying experience. Advantage means a reroll, not called before. Roll20 rolls double and Inspiration is still a precious resource. Flanked is a condition that grants advantage to all attack rolls against the target, not only melee. Doesn't make sense that the harried target totally knows about the archer 90 feet away. Plus whatever else we wanna do. This is your game.

Safety

How Nym's Adventures creates a safe table

The primary and most effective rule: We DO NOT accept players who support the MAGA regime. Fascism is not welcome in our country or at my tables. For everyone else, Nym will reach out to you about any boundaries, phobias, sensitivities or such you may have. There will also be a frank discussion at the top of Session 00 about what is and isn't acceptable.
