About the adventure

🕸 Anavalia - is an original setting that I have created for the purposes of immersive role-play, and adventuring. If you are looking for an adventure with a wide variety of plot-lines, where you can immerse and role-play, explore and find mysterious magic items, thwart the plans of powerful NPCs, and gain special boons for heroic deeds, look no further. Here are a some of the main themes that might be explored: 𓆅 Feywild 𓆅 Necromancy 𓆅 Royal power-play 𓆅 Secret societies 𓆅 Ambitious spellcasters 𓆅 Trading routes 𓆅 Religious zealots 𓆅 Heretics 𓆅 Aberrations 𓆅 And more Anavalia is in need of heroes, heroes who have yet to express their potential but would otherwise not be able. A grand spell was woven, alongside a prayer spoken, that has now made it possible - through boundaries otherwise not crossable - for the fate of the world and its new champions to be intertwined, so balance may be restored to world, as it was Divinely designed. The world of Anavalia welcomes the adventurers by addressing a condition, injury that would otherwise lead them towards the grave. In exchange for their lives being extended, and started anew, the adventurers are called into service, to assist in the rapidly extremising world. There are various Threads along which the adventurers may explore, and find numerous threats to the realm's health on physical, emotional, and spiritual levels. While choosing to eliminate certain threats, other dangers will expand and grow. Strategy, foresight, and cunning will be required, as well as a strong sense of discernment of which allies will be most valuable, which relationships are most worth tending to. The world is filled with several countries, each unique in the experience they present, as well as the dangers lurking. 𓆅 Will you dare to question the Divine Empress of the Silk Empire? 𓆅 Will you poke your nose into the Coven's business? 𓆅 Will you traverse the Dustlands and find the accursed ancient sites and Necromancers dwelling there? There are many more threads to pull, so the questions presents itself, will you? 🕸 - I welcome with warmth new players, LGBTQIA+, people with disabilities - all kind and respectful humans are welcome.

About me

Hi! I am Manta. I love deep role-play experiences where I can learn though the characters I am portraying, and through the world itself. Discovering collective imagination, gaining new perspectives, that can be valuable to me in my life and enjoying communal storytelling are some of my main reasons I love TTRPGs. I studied Screenwriting at UCLA, and I specialised in fantasy adventures, where I was often complimented for my world-building. I also spent my teenage years in theatre actor prepping improvisation classes, so I developed some skills to go with my love for voicing some unique characters. I left Hollywood and now live in the jungle, but I still very much love writing and channelling mystical worlds and characters. Recently I found DnD as a wonderful outlet to share and directly experience my world-building with other creative people like you. So I invested hundreds of hours into research on DnD, playing, finding the best DM tools and crafting a brand new world specifically designed for stories to be told with a lot of flexibility for player agency and creativity. I am looking forward to playing together!

Character creation

Creating your character

Plenty of unique build paths available, including Loot Tavern's Bender. Party currently: Druid Fighter Rogue You will receive access to the majority of the Player Options on DnD Beyond, including Partnered Content. Multi-classing is allowed with two classes in total. We start the campaign at Level 1. Standard Array or Point Buy. Custom Background and Lineage allowed to help bring to life your vision of your character. I would ask that you come to Session 0 with 2-3 loose character ideas, so you have the option to see which ones would synchronise best with the party, and story being told. If you strongly feel a specific character and have no other option, that will not be an issue either. I would request, that if possible, wait with your character's backstory until session 0, to be able to see if your character has a natural home in the world of Anavalia or is from some other place in the Forgotten Realms. If you choose to be from Anavalia, following the session 0, we may choose to have a short Dm-Player call to get some clarity on your background. I also do allow some Homebrew options, I will review it before approving it. After character creation, some adjustments will be allowed to best support your experience, as long as they make sense as a part of the character's story.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Within Discord is where you can meet the other players and receive any important instructions as you prepare for game. We will also use Discord during sessions to communicate. Your account on DnD Beyond will be used to share with you the player options to be used, and it is where you can create your character options.

What Manta brings to the table

I have created an original setting, that offers a variety of story-lines happening simultaneously. There is a way in which the key ambitious NPCs (non-player characters) intend to change the world around them throughout the timeline of the campaign. The adventurers are pulled by the threads to address the greatest threats to the balance of Anavalia. As players, you will be the ones to decide when and how, and even if you chose to interfere with any of the ambitious NPCs intentions. All the while the others that are not being addressed will be able to accomplish more of their goals unimpeded. I, as a DM: - Bring the World Alive with NPCs, Cultures, Events, Stories to be changed completely by the Players - Side quests tailored to PCs, to further their character development - Set up for Moments for each PC (player character) to be Highlighted in their Capabilities, for their Backstory - Create situations that allow the PCs to express their values, opinions and feelings in contrast to other PCs - Prepare an awesome experience on Foundry VTT with a plethora of mods to enhance the experience, including gorgeous maps and scenes from fantastic creators like Czepeku - Build unique and challenging encounters (not all combat scenarios are death-matches), unique monsters, and companions. - I do appreciate Rule of Cool, specifically in moments that it helps us tell a story even more fun that way.

Homebrew rules

Improved Healing Potions: Drink Healing Potion as a Bonus Action. Or choose to drink it as an action and regain the maximum amount of hit points from the potion. Flanking: Flanking grants a +2 bonus to attack rolls instead of advantage (Optional) Improved critical hits: When a creature lands a critical hit, the extra damage die are automatically rolled at maximum damage.

Safety

How Manta creates a safe table

Session 0 we will talk about everyone's expectations (such as attendance) and intentions (such as style of play) for the campaign. We will have a moment of introduction, and go over some rules, agree on which home-brew options to use and some aspects of table etiquette (such as not cutting others off, or talking over others, or breaking important role-playing moments.) Then we will talk about the player characters and their possible connections to the world, or whether they just arrived from another world in the Forgotten Realms. During each session we will intuitively or upon request find a couple minutes to go on Break. Deck of Safety will be provided to anonymously communicate any possible topics that are to be avoided entirely. I am very receptive to feedback, and I favour open respectful communication at my tables, so there will be opportunities to share at the end of the session through Stars and Wishes or privately.
