About the adventure
"Come ever onward ye brave souls, those unshaken by the night. Venture forth and play your roles, in Harpy Village far from sight." Those are just some of the many cryptic words that have plagued you as of late. The product of the now many restless nights you have endured with dreams of mist, dead faces, and a feminine voice beckoning to you. It all started when a pair of letters found their way into your possession. One bearing a simple phrase "She is Ancient, She is the Land" the other an offer and invitation to Harpy Village. After many long nights and rain soaked days, you find yourselves at a crossroads you can only just recollect from a half forgotten dream. A sign bearing the name of "Harpy Village." stands before you. The names of two other towns have been utterly annihilated from the crossroads marker, and their roads are overgrown with thickets and underbrush. The only path towards the answers you seek lies before you, but will you take it? Will you accept the call to adventure? Or will you resign yourself to the long haunted and tormented nights forevermore...? In this twist on the classic Curse of Strahd tale "She is Ancient" is a modern module for modern audiences. Alongside my own twists and turns on the classic tale. You will not have the same experience if you have played before, and if you never have then you will get a fantastic first run through!

About me
My name is Deathly Shad online, and I have been running a successful DND game for the past four years that is still currently ongoing. My players are enjoying the world that I have built and the storyline that I have provided for them, as well as the choices they have been able to make in order to advance the storyline, and affect the world around them. If you wanna watch said game, then you can do so here at my Youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/@exstreamgamer I am a GM that likes to give his players an unforgettable experience, and tell a co-operative story with my players so everyone leaves the table satisfied with the ending. I have amazing improvisational skills, so I am hardly ever caught off guard by things players might try and do, or if I am I can easily and efficiently deal with said actions. I have GMed two successful Westmarch style servers over the years, and multiple long running campaigns. I wouldn't be a GM on here otherwise if I didn't believe I was good at what I did. I like to keep things light hearted and fluffy, but can easily go fairly dark as needed or desired by my players. I am respectful of any lines or veils that my players have, and am always open for discussion after a game is over about any issues my players had during said game. You will never offend me by having an issue with how I ran something or a particular storyline that I am attempting to tell. It is my earnest belief that everyone should be having fun at my table.

Creating your character
Characters will be created in Roll20 during the first session, with help provided as needed, after which the session will begin. I will also have pre-generated character sheets for players that want to instantly get into the action. When making a character for this game, we will only be using official DnD 5e (2014) materials. We will be using the standard array (16, 15, 14, 13, 11, 9). Please make sure that whatever concept you bring to the table has a reason to be a member of the party. If you have a concept you would like to bring to the table, we can discuss it prior to the beginning of the session to make sure the concept works before building it at the table.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
The game will be using Discord and Roll20; accounts for both will be a pre-requisite.
What Deathly Shad brings to the table
As a GM, I am focused on player satisfaction - I take feedback during and at the conclusion of each session and integrate it into future session. I am able to represent a variety of tones in the content I run, from light and fluffy to downright grimdark, depending on player preference (though I do have a personal knack for fluffier content). I employ both maps and theater of the mind in my games for combat and am receptive to player creativity, being reasonably talented at improvisation and used to having to think on the fly. Games will often be accompanied with music that compliments the mood of the current scene. Some scenes will employ art I've commissioned in the past (with credit to the artists offered and supplied on request). I also voice characters with distinct flair where I can.
Homebrew rules
My main house rules are as follows. 1: Healing Potions specifically can be drank as a bonus action, rolling for HP as normal, or as an Action to restore the full amount of HP the potion could restore. ex. A basic healing potion restores 2d4+2 hp when drank as a Bonus Action, or 10hp if drank as an Action. 2: Luck Tokens. A Luck Token provides a +1 untyped bonus to any die roll made. Luck Tokens are gained when a player rolls a natural 1 on a D20 roll, and does not re-roll it. Players may have a number of Luck Tokens equal to their proficiency bonus. ex. You roll a dexterity saving throw and get a 12, but you need a 15. You, and any other player with a Luck Token, can spend a token to give that 12 a +1 for each token spent. So three spend Luck Tokens means your 12 becomes a 15 and succeeds. 3: Critical Hits. When a creature rolls a natural 20 on an attack roll, they maximize the damage of the attack, and roll the extra crit dice as additional damage. ex. A natural 20 is rolled on a flame tongue longsword. The crits damage is calculated as follows - 8+12+1d8+2d6+modifier. (This rule may or may not be ignored depending on how the table feels about it.)

How Deathly Shad creates a safe table
My lines and Veils are discussed during session 0, along with the players as well. I want people to feel comfortable during my games, and will always be more than willing to adjust my content based on everyone else. If I plan on doing any content that I feel my players might be uncomfortable with, then I am more than willing to put down the screen and have a formal discussion with my players before doing so.
