About the adventure
Welcome to Waterdeep, the City of Splendors. Where wealth flows as freely as rumors, and power is often hidden behind smiles and sealed doors. In this iconic urban campaign, adventurers are drawn into a web of secrets, rival factions, and competing ambitions, all circling around a legendary hoard lost somewhere within the city. Heroes of Waterdeep: Dragon Heist is a story-driven campaign focused on investigation, social encounters, and player choice. You’ll forge alliances, make enemies, uncover hidden plots, and decide who truly deserves the city’s riches. While combat is present and meaningful, clever thinking, negotiation, and roleplay often matter just as much as sword and spell. This campaign is run story-first with tactical depth, at a real physical table using miniatures and terrain, streamed live so players can experience the warmth and clarity of an in-person game without the complexity of a virtual tabletop. Sessions are well paced, immersive, and collaborative, with consistent spotlight for every character and room for roleplay at your own comfort level. Perfect for players who enjoy intrigue, character-driven stories, and a living city that reacts to their decisions, Heroes of Waterdeep offers a long-term table where relationships, reputation, and choices truly matter. Whether you’re new to longer campaigns or looking for a reliable, polished weekly game, this is a chance to build your legend in one of D&D’s most beloved settings.

Meet the Game Master
About me
I’ve been playing and running tabletop roleplaying games since 2016, when I first discovered Dungeons & Dragons and immediately fell in love with the idea of collaborative storytelling. When no one in my friend group knew how to play, I stepped behind the screen, dove into the rules, and started running games. I’ve been DMing ever since. Later I've joined some other games, but I found I prefer to DM rather than be a player My experience as a Game Master is rooted in in-person play, where I learned the importance of pacing, preparation, and creating a welcoming table. I’m especially drawn to story-first gameplay with tactical depth, and I enjoy designing sessions where every player has opportunities to shine based on their character’s strengths.

What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will receive a link 15-30 Minutes prior to each game, make sure to log in. No account necessary, no subscriptions, no downloads, just show up with your character sheet (virtual or physical is fine), a camera(if you wish to be seen) and a microphone (This one is necessary) Make sure to send in a filled out copy of the requested "Monte Cook RPG Consent Checklist" which I'll send you via messages. I'm happy to answer any questions through StartPlaying messages or through discord https://discord.gg/vYFY3s2q
What Hugo brings to the table
I will set up a physical table at home, I will organize the terrain, I will select miniatures that closely resemble your characters, I will stream the table for all to see via the link provided. You should feel like you're next to me at the table having snacks and cracking jokes. I'm pretty lax on the rules, definitely a Rule of Cool kinda guy, you get advantage for surprising me or for roleplaying your character well. I'll also provide a campaign link in D&D beyond to assist with character builds and stuff.
Homebrew rules
1. Only players roll initiative ( I fit in the bad guys in between to prevent unbalanced fights) 2. Nat 20s on initiative get to choose their spot 3. Drinking a potion as a bonus action = Roll for healing, drinking it as a full action = Max health potion points. 4. Death Save throws trigger a roleplaying memory of your character's life flashing before their eyes.

Safety
How Hugo creates a safe table
I have an open door policy, I usually schedule a break during each session about halfway, but player can always call for a break as well if necessary and there's always a debrief at the end of each game. In addition each player is required to fill out an RPG consent list prior to the game so I know in advance what to prepare for taking into account each player's preferences.
