About the adventure
Learn to play Fate Core by playing in the sample adventure found in The Secrets of Cats! In this quirky and mysterious adventure, players take on the role of magical cats who protect their Burdens—that's humans to folks like us—from the things they cannot see: supernatural things, things that go bump in the night. Together with your fellow cats, you will uncover a ghastly mystery in the sleepy town of Silver Ford. But beware! Not all of the bipeds of the town are on your side, and even some of the sentient animals are suspect… A savvy cat will question the loyalties of strangers and their closest friends alike. Can you solve the mystery of Silver Ford?

About me
Hoi! 👋 I'm a multi-setting Player and Gamemaster with a great love of co-building dramatic arcs with the tables gracious enough to have me. Ever since I first began roleplaying in online forums as a kid, which naturally progressed into tabletop play, I have enjoyed roleplay as a way to not just tell meaningful stories with other players, but to also relate to the people around me. Get in, babes! We're roleplaying for social cohesion here! 🌈💖

Creating your character
Players will have their pick from four (4) unique pre-generated cats at the offset. Each has specialized in their own sphere of magic. Think about what kind of cat you want to be! • Black Paw the Warden, stalwart bulwark against the forces of evil! • Nameless the Namer, uncanny whisperer of True Names! • Swift the Shaper, clever master of their own form and shadow! • Tack the Seeker, curious finder of lost things and walker of dreams!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
As part of the game's prep materials, every player will receive a link to a private Discord server dedicated to my games: we'll use voice chat for gameplay and text chat for chatter while "in the wings." To join the server, however, each player will need access to a Discord account. Please be ready by preparing that ahead of time. For VTT, I will provide a link before gametime to a hosted Foundry VTT instance. We'll handle character sheets and rolls there!
What Maggie Mae brings to the table
As GM, I will provide a playful introduction to the Fate Core system, so please expect a patient learning environment! I'll answer questions, give advice, and gently direct if any player gets lost or confused. Once players get more comfortable, I'll become more hands-off to allow for more curiosity and exploration, but players will always have access to help in this one-shot.

How Maggie Mae creates a safe table
You are allowed at any moment to publicly or privately let me and/or the table know that you are getting up from the table, with or without explaining why. I will keep things rolling or call a break depending on your input. If you ever become uncomfortable for any reason, pulling an X or N card is not only allowed, it is highly encouraged! You do not need to explain why, but if you are willing to, I would be more than happy to hear how I could have better curated your experience during post-game debrief. X, N, & O cards take place within Foundry VTT in the form of an Add-On Module called "Table Safety." Anonymous tools like Hardstop (X), Fast-Forward and Pause (N) will be available to all of the players. Hands (a "raise your hand" feature) is not anonymous to the GM, but other players won't know specifically who wants a chance to speak.
