About the adventure

An open seas campaign with a dozen nations with their own cultures, biomes and unique characters and creatures. The One Piece vibes are real here, but there's plenty to explore and discover with their own twists and deep story. See how the waters are fairing after this sudden break in peace across the lands and seas under the watchful eyes of the World Navy. If you're looking for a sailing and survival focused D&D experience, look to the Oslic Ocean within the world of Godscar. Special mechanics and encounters centered around your character along side the main story lines. Dozens of organizations, outlawed religions, rising warlords, and corrupt lawmen. Creative expression is encouraged, and all are welcome to browse my collection of homebrew races, classes, subclasses, feats and more. I also welcome depth of roleplaying, or whimsically fun and comedic characters/ moments. A good mix of everything makes for some amazing memories, so come make memories on the seas with your friends.

About me

I always liked Dungeons & Dragons, but I never thought I'd fall in love—until I stepped behind the screen. Once I discovered Dungeon Mastering, everything clicked. What started as a single year-long campaign quickly became an obsession with crafting worlds, stories, and systems that revolve around one thing: the players and their characters. Today, everything I run is homebrewed with intention. I design settings, mechanics, and narratives to feel hand-crafted around the party, not dropped into a generic mold. My favorite moments come from watching players shape the world alongside me—giving it history, consequences, and life far beyond what I could build alone. While I’m most at home in fantasy, I love twisting expectations. My longest-running campaign took place in an enchanted candy factory, complete with living gummy bears, gingerbread folk, and strange sugary horrors—and yes, it reached level 25 (fun, but I agree… maybe don’t go past 20 😅). I enjoy bending and reworking rules when it serves the story or creates more engaging, cinematic scenarios at the table. After five years as a forever DM, I’ve amassed thousands of notes and pages of original content: custom items, races, subclasses, and even full classes. These aren’t just ideas sitting in a folder—they’re tools meant to be played, tested, and brought to life by curious, creative players. Now, I’m looking to share these worlds with people beyond my IRL group—players who want to collaborate, explore strange settings, and tell stories that feel personal, weird, heroic, and unforgettable. If you’re excited by character-driven storytelling, imaginative worlds, and a DM who genuinely cares about crafting a game with you, I’d love to build something together.

Character creation

Creating your character

For both new and experienced players, character creation will be within a session 0 during a private discord call. This will ensure you can ask any questions you have, and they will be answered ASAP. It also allows me to get to know you and what may be the most interesting slice of the world for you and your character. Stats can be rolled within the discord server so there is a record of it for the sake of insurance of fairness. Typically, I will allow the use of any race/subclass you can think of as long as there is a fair ruleset for it and I have reviewed it beforehand. As for classes, I stick to the base game's classes plus the ones I have homebrewed myself. Though if there is a particular class you have in mind for your character, I would love to review it and incorporate it as best as I can. With all of that, understand I want the best characters possible for you, but also for the game. If something homebrewed does not fit within the world or could potentially break how the game works or how other players play their characters, I will refuse it. Even with my own homebrew classes, playtesting is fun as long as you understand nothing is set in stone. This game is meant to be fun, not meant to be broken. For rules that already exist, go wild! I'm a big fan of the Unearthed Arcana rules and everything already created should be loved and enjoyed. If you have a fun idea or concept, don't shy away from it. Sometimes the best characters are the wackiest ones (just keep in mind your crazy character may have to be serious at times).

What to expect

Preparing for the session

To prepare, you should at least have a Discord account and a Roll20 account. I prefer if everyone could also have a copy of Tabletop Simulator, however I understand if not everyone wants to/can get a copy of the game. If all players have Tabletop Simulator, the sessions will be on that platform. If not, it will be on Roll20. After signing up for the game, I will message you through Startplaying.games to connect you to the Discord server. Between the time you signed up for the game and the start of the campaign, MAKE SURE you have at least a few hours of free time to do a free session 0 within a discord call. If you do not know what your character will be, bring a few ideas or tell me if you need a bit of extra time. I will actively be available during the day to help guide the character creation process.

What Joe brings to the table

After playing D&D 5e for almost 8 years, I know a lot of the base rules by heart (though not all, my memory isn't that good). However, I'm a fan of fun and unique mechanics and situations that help your or your party characters shine. Getting fun ideas from the world and other bits of media, I've also crafted fun classes, races, items and other things to mess around with during any campaign I run. In my experience I've practiced many voices, so all my characters sound unique. I look for fun music that fits specific encounters or settings to play in the background. My combat encounters can be simple or complex with interesting solutions. My boss fights are memorable and satisfying, and though they can be difficult, I rarely kill my players without at least a reason or alternate choice. To this day I have never had a total TPK, and only a few character deaths. Lastly, being a creative person myself, I always enjoy the fun and crazy ideas my players come up with. If it does not break the campaign or harm other players, I lean more towards the 'rule of cool'.

Homebrew rules

Every encounter is specially crafted for the environment and/or story. Small changes include: free item interactions to use items like potions, flanking gives advantage, spell components not being too serious (except for the expensive ones). I have much homebrew content to be play tested and I often include them as NPC's or inside encounters. My biggest change that I am fond of is wounds instead of falling unconscious. Balancing the difficulty of some homebrew content, falling to 0 does not take you out of the combat. Instead, it gives you a chance to gamble your long-term health in trade to continue fighting alongside your allies. In addition, each of my campaigns adds a spiritual mechanic to build upon yourself to assist in the power-scaling of the campaign.

Safety

How Joe creates a safe table

Before the campaign, I do a free session 0 to go over your character, and this time will be utilized to cover any topics you find uncomfortable. During the sessions, I encourage speaking up about anything that does not make you comfortable and give you time such as a break during the session to unwind. After the sessions I stay to chat and review the session and the campaign as a whole. I am no stranger to constructive criticism and always enjoy hearing aspects my players hope to see within the campaign. I also do not tolerate players who do not respect the wants and needs of other players as D&D is a team game at its core. If someone does not respect these systems, they will at most get a warning, but I am not afraid of removing players from the campaign.
