About Joe
I always liked Dungeons & Dragons, but I never thought I'd fall in love—until I stepped behind the screen. Once I discovered Dungeon Mastering, everything clicked. What started as a single year-long campaign quickly became an obsession with crafting worlds, stories, and systems that revolve around one thing: the players and their characters. Today, everything I run is homebrewed with intention. I design settings, mechanics, and narratives to feel hand-crafted around the party, not dropped into a generic mold. My favorite moments come from watching players shape the world alongside me—giving it history, consequences, and life far beyond what I could build alone. While I’m most at home in fantasy, I love twisting expectations. My longest-running campaign took place in an enchanted candy factory, complete with living gummy bears, gingerbread folk, and strange sugary horrors—and yes, it reached level 25 (fun, but I agree… maybe don’t go past 20 😅). I enjoy bending and reworking rules when it serves the story or creates more engaging, cinematic scenarios at the table. After five years as a forever DM, I’ve amassed thousands of notes and pages of original content: custom items, races, subclasses, and even full classes. These aren’t just ideas sitting in a folder—they’re tools meant to be played, tested, and brought to life by curious, creative players. Now, I’m looking to share these worlds with people beyond my IRL group—players who want to collaborate, explore strange settings, and tell stories that feel personal, weird, heroic, and unforgettable. If you’re excited by character-driven storytelling, imaginative worlds, and a DM who genuinely cares about crafting a game with you, I’d love to build something together.

I became a GM because
My friend group loved playing D&D but were not fond of their GM. I learned so they could still play the game they love.
People are always surprised when I tell them
That I like being a GM/DM rather than playing as a player.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Playing games or making progress on my book series.
How Joe runs games
I champion a mix of roleplay and tactical combat with a lean towards roleplay. I tend to make intricate combat encounters with puzzles laced within or combats that feel fun rather than bogged down and grindy. I don't hold hands yet I like to create plot twists that can both help or hinder my players. My current campaigns are 99% homebrew with the base rules as strict guidelines, and due to how I learned D&D I picked up many rules and roleplay habits from Critical Role. My resources are limited in the realm of custom visuals (I'm bad at art) but I know resources to make unique items, models and maps to help immerse players into the world. Also sometimes I can get custom character artwork done through a close friend for free which I would share if possible. Regardless of my limitations of these kinds, I pour my soul into the world but more so the characters my players make. At least 45% of my worlds are integrated into my player's choices for their character backstory and interests.

I deal with rules issues by...
Looking it up if the rules are clear enough, though I enjoy letting good or fun ideas help flow the campaign with a little help of a dice roll to portrait a unique outcome.
I prep by
Hoping my players will do the most expected actions, however I create as many outcome ideas as I can knowing they likely wont take the most expected course.
My games focus on...
Enjoying the game of Dungeons and dragons with close friends to become closer and enjoy a unique story together.
Joe's ideal table
Optimistically enthralled. I love the characters in my campaigns and I wish to gift them with an exciting rollercoaster of a story. If you respect everyone else's characters and time, plot and create conspiracies, or all around enjoy the whimsy that is D&D, you'd fit right in to my table.

I am for a vibe that's...
"DM, can I...?" "You can certainly try!" If you charge with full confidence with your character (As long as its not harmful to other players) I commend creativity and even if it doesn't work out, your ideas add to the charm of your character all the same.
I love it when a player
Takes charge of their backstory for the sake of having fun, even knowing it may not be fully accurate. Best characters are made by a joining of player's and dungeon master's passion for the character and story together.
My table is not the place for...
Main character syndrome. People who are afraid of conflicts of every kind. Telling the DM or other players what to do in the game. Creating drama outside of the game. Fighting other players in game with no narrative reasoning. Sitting on your phone or playing a game the entire session.
