About the adventure
Nestled to the southeast of Waterdeep is a place of mysterious power called, High Moor. Home to all manner of of beast and monstrosity, very little is known about the area, other than its creation during the Dark Disaster. Songs were sung, and bards spun tales of faeries, and colorful wonders inside High Moor, but the truth maybe something more sinister. Vajra Safahr, the commander of a unit of elite adventurers in Waterdeep known as, Force Grey, has put out a call to arms for not prospective members. With current active members on a hunt for a dangerous relic in the Underdark, The Blackstaff has need to send a group of adventurers into High Moor to investigate rumors of strange shadows and magical storms. She explains the risk you will be taking, but ensures that should you be successful, you will return to Waterdeep as legends. Before setting off, you are each given a wonderous item known as a Loop Ring. The ring effects temporal energy around you. When a creature wearing a Loop Ring dies, they return to the start of their loop, being able to start over again. Further, she lets you know that these rings are still experimental magic, and can likely only be used safely, thirty times.

Meet the Game Master
About me
As far back as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a Game Master. Movie quote aside, it's not far off from the truth. I've been building worlds and telling stories with my friends since I was a kid playing in the woods behind our neighborhood. I have been a Game Master now for going on a decade. Even in today's world of professional voice actors, production values, tool accessibility, my GM style has never changed. It's my goal to transport my players to their buddy's basement on a Friday night. While I am well versed in the rules for the systems I run, my philosophy is one of engagement, and fun. I want my players to be comfortable, and engrossed in the tales we tell, the wars we wage, and sometimes the best way to do that is through a more casual approached to GMing. These are our worlds, our stories, and together we're going to build legends. --- What You Should Expect From My Table! 1) A roleplay rich, and combat-crunchy, style that is suited for narratives featuring investigation, mystery, puzzles, etc. 2) An aim to provide an inclusive environment for all types of players from all walks of life. 3) New Player Friendly Tables! - I want to be as up front as I possibly can be, that I want new players to feel comfortable joining my games. I think it is important to provide a space for people looking to pick up the hobby, so we can keep this rich tradition going! 4) My longform games, will be expansive, and catered to the type of stories, and gameplay that suits my table as a whole. I'm adaptive, and if you need to zig, instead of zag, to have fun? I'm going to be taking that turn with you. My games are story and lore rich, filled with living and breathing NPC's. I want my players to feel like they are at home at my table, and their characters, at home in the worlds they inhabit. It could be a home brew world, made just for you, The Sword Coast of Faerun, The Free City of Greyhawk, or maybe The Savage Coasts of Mystara.

Creating your character
Once you are brought on board, you will be given a link to the Campaign page on DNDBeyond, where you can start building your character utilizing either the 2014 rules. To help build your character you may use any source material I have on the platform, or is shared on the platform. If you do not have access to something that you would like to use, you can let me know, and we can figure out a way to make it work. The only caveat is that it must be something officially published by WOTC, or a 3rd Party, and not wholly homebrew. - Stats will be rolled using a roller on Discord. - HP to be fixed. - Encumbrance and Ammo will be used - For equipment, you can pick: (Equipment will be standard mundane weapons taken from the Players Handbook) 1x Primary Weapon 1x Secondary Weapon (Including Ranged Weaponry) 1x Shield (If proficient, or if not, feel free to take a few throwing knives, or javelins) 1x Uncommon Wonderous Item (or 2x Potion of Healing) Along with whatever gear is in your starting kit There will be very little restriction to how you create your character, species/race, class, subclasses, etc. are all in play. This mini campaign is going to be incredibly tough. You are going to die... several times, and you are going to level up quickly. So, in figuring out what type of character you want to play, keep that in mind.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
1) Familiarize yourself with a passing understanding for the rules of the game. If you don't have a copy of the rules, once you join my game, a copy will be available for you. As long as you know the general structure, you'll be fine. 2) Ensure you are registered with StartPlaying to join the game. 3) Have registered accounts with Discord, and DNDBeyond. We will be using these for Voicechat, and our character sheets.. 4) Be ready to have fun!
What DanFromHali brings to the table
- Access to a Discord Server that we can help grow into a community of players, where we can discuss our sessions, talk to one another, bounce character builds of each other, and more. - Maps to help bring our game to life as well as a strong theater of the mind. - A game where the characters, setting, and world are moving around you, interacting with your choices and decisions. - Encounters that are designed for ingenuity, and not just about who has the best stats. If you enjoy a game that rewards the clever and creative, you'll fit right in here. - Support for new players and veterans alike! - A table where everyone will be given a chance to shine, and breath life into the story we are telling, whether it be a one-shot, or a campaign.
Homebrew rules
Potions - Potions can be drank using a bonus action for max healing! Criticals - Critical Hits will be calculated as Damage Rolled + 5 (x2). Mechanically you add 5 to the damage you roll, and double it. Criticals should be impactful Narrative Checks - If you want to make a check using an alternative skill, as long as you can explain how you are making the check, I will likely let you do it. Help! - Anybody can make a check, but if you want to help with that check, you must have proficiency. Inspiration - Add 1d20 to any d20 roll. This can be done at anytime, including after knowing the result of a previous roll. The Loop - Your Loop Ring, once activated will kick in with the completion of a long rest, or when your character dies. When this happpens, characters wearing an activated Loop Ring, will return to the start of the dungeon as it was when they first entered. When you loop, you can keep any gear on your person. When your character dies, and you loop, the temporal energy in that operates the ring, causes you to gain a level. If you manage to survive a day, and want to try and take a long rest in the dungeon, you can do so. If your loop restarts due to surviving through to a long rest, you will not level up, but you can take a feat!

How DanFromHali creates a safe table
- Once you are brought into the campaign, you will be invited to take part in a Discord Community. Before we are able to play, all players must fill out a check list and send it to myself privately. The checklist will discuss the Lines and Veils of what content is acceptable. In other words, what is a hard line that can't be crossed, and veils that we should dance around but not feature directly. This helps ensure that we are all on the same page, and enter a session acknowledging that the place is inclusive for players of all walks. - The Session's time is inclusive of a short break to discuss rules, take a breather from heavy content, and to debrief. The loop will also give us some breaks as people will be leveling up their characters. - After the session, regardless of length, we can talk about our stars and wishes. Things we liked about the session, and things we wish we could have done better. This isn't meant to be a tear down of a DM or Player, but something constructive we can try to build upon together to make for a better game.
