About the adventure
This is intended as an intro to Legends of the 5 Rings and the world of Rokugan. This is primarily to learn the system and how playing in it works, giving others a taste of something they are not usually used to playing as commonly in TTRPGs these days. It involves a heavier amount of Roleplaying, with a much lower amount of combat (It DOES happen, but is usually quick, decisive, and if for blood... Deadly). Approach the world from a different viewpoint, of the Empire first, the Clan second, and anything else afterwards. The world of Rokugan heavily pulls from historical feudal Japan, but also is entirely fantasy and not meant to reflect it directly.

About me
Hello there! I’m Jon, your friendly ADHD goblin. I’ve been DMing for somewhere around 10 or 11 years now. I’ve had interests in D&D for about 18, and a captivation for storytelling and fantasy for as long as I can remember. R Salvatore, Tom Clancy, Weis & Hickman, Robert Jordan, and others guided my childhood and filled me with an imagination that crafts worlds I wish to share with others. I’ve run, played in, and experimented with a variety of TTRPG systems over there years, such as: D&D 5e, Numenara, Legend of the 5 Rings, Shadowrun 5e/6e, Call of Cthulhu, Pathfinder, Starfinder, Warhammer Fantasy, Warhammer 40k, WH40 Dark Heresy, Godbound… I’ve probably missed a few. As a DM I enjoy and encourage creativity, interesting problem-solving, and changing up the stereotypes. I am a pretty player forward DM, but I have no qualms about throwing a challenge at my players or making them think twice about going somewhere they shouldn’t! Creating your character
We will sit down prior to the first session one on one with the DM to create characters. Everything will be decided by the book for creating a Rank 1 character in your designated Clan!
This system has each player choosing their Clan (Background), Family (Within the clan), and their School (Class). There are a multitude of Major and Minor clans throughout the Emerald Empire, and generally 3 differing Schools (Some clans have them all, some do not) called Bushi (Fighters), Courtier (Talkers), and Shugenja (Magical). We can go over all of this in detail once we delve into character creation.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
To play this, we will be using a combination of Foundry (Hosted through The Forge) and voice shall be done through our group Discord VC.
What Overlord Onyx - Jon brings to the table
For much of this, we will stick to the Rules as Written while we learn this new system and get accustomed to this interesting setting. I will provide ambient music to hopefully set the mood, as well as a creative set of characters to interact with. Due to the nature of the system (And finding material that already existing), theatre of the mind will be used reasonably often.
