About the adventure

The City of Splendors is loud, crowded, and full of chances. Power moves through back rooms and whispered deals, and somewhere beneath it all lies a stolen hoard of gold large enough to change everything. Somehow, you’ve been pulled into the race to find it. Waterdeep: Dragon Heist is a roleplay focused, intrigue driven adventure where words can be as powerful as weapons. Expect investigation, social encounters, meaningful consequences, and combat when things inevitably go wrong. This table welcomes both new and experienced players. You don’t need deep lore knowledge! just curiosity, engagement and a willingness to let your character grow. Your backstory isn’t decoration, it’s part of the city now. If you want a game where ambition, secrets, and hard choices take center stage.. then step inside!

About me

Well met! I’ve been GM-ing since 2019, running everything from one-shots to a three-year bi-weekly campaign. My style of storytelling tends to be gritty, character-driven fantasy with enough humor to bring out occasional laughs from folks. I draw inspiration from writers like Joe Abercrombie, George R. R. Martin & Robin Hobb. I'm also influenced by video games: The Witcher, Shadow of Colossus, etc. At my table, player freedom is at the core. I enjoy when players test the limits of my imagination and push the story in an unforeseen situation. I tend to return that favor, putting players in a situation where they have to improvise on the fly, which can be a daunting task. Yet individuals who enjoy that type of challenge tend to have a great time in my games. My goal is always to create a vivid theatre-of-the-mind experience where players can unleash their creativity and leave with unforgettable stories. I favour Theater-of-the-Mind style GM-ing because we want to mimic a real life table experience as closely as possible.

Character creation

Creating your character

During Session 0, we’ll go through character creation step by step and discuss how each character fits into the world.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

A Theater of the Mind experience, we'll be using Discord - which is the only app you need. No virtual table-tops. We want to mimic a real-life table experience as much as possible. Have an idea of your character ready!

What IvanGMT brings to the table

I have years of experience running D&D adventures. Rule of cool applies, the amount of combat we will experience depends on the group - whether they are the kind who likes to engage or avoid. The group decides! There will be occasional ambient/action music.
