About the adventure

**This is a text-based, play-by-post duet game for 1 player and 1 GM, charged weekly. Messages can be exchanged throughout the day (EST) over Discord.** We'll work together to find a workable schedule. If you ever need a break or to change something up, just let me know! It's a cold day in January in 1929. An old friend comes to your office to ask for help getting her dog back from the police. Should be a simple enough matter- what could go wrong? But when strange letters arrive from a childhood friend, and stories and rumors arise about a powerful medium who can sense the future, you may be in more danger than you realize. You'll need to use your expert detective skills to discover the truth before otherworldly powers creep into the material world. Can you stop the chaos before it's too late?

About me

I've been DMing for years, and especially love to focus on the storytelling and roleplaying aspects of DnD. If you haven't done much role play, or are a little nervous about starting, don't worry- I'll provide you with tools and prompts to help you bring your character to life (no acting skills required).

Character creation

Creating your character

You'll be playing an investigator in Chicago in the 1920s, with some connections to both the police and the mob. Their identity and personality are up to you! Tell me about the kind of character you'd like to play, and we'll work together to weave them into the setting. Call of Cthulhu can be pretty number-crunchy, so pre-made character options are available for those who'd rather skip the math.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Discord account required. Shortly after booking, you'll receive an invite to a dedicated channel for your game on my server.

What Brackett brings to the table

This game is very much story driven, so the Rule of Cool (or maybe Rule of Creepy) will definitely apply. I'll provide all necessary materials, including images and document handouts. I use the Tupperbox Discord bot, which allows you to make posts as your character, with their name and profile picture! Combat in Cthulhu is usually short and brutal, so there aren't often many maps or complex tactics.

Safety

How Brackett creates a safe table

Before the game starts, I'll go over any and all themes that may arise during play. We'll discuss the Lines and Veils for each person, and do regular out-of-character check-ins to ensure your comfort and enjoyment of the game.
