About the adventure

1943 Eastern Front/Carpathian Mountains There is a war everyone knows. And there is another one buried beneath it. Black Snow Directive is a long-form Call of Cthulhu 7e campaign set on the Eastern Front during World War II. While armies clash and borders burn, secret expeditions dig into ruins older than history, broadcasting truths humanity was never meant to hear. You are not heroes chasing glory. You are intelligence assets, scholars, medics, resistance operatives, and survivors quietly reassigned after encountering events that could not be explained—or erased. Nazi occult factions inspired by the Thule Society seek to weaponize ancient forces they do not understand. The entities they court do not care about flags, ideologies, or victory. They will outlast the war. Your mission is not to win. It is to contain, delay, and ensure no one remembers the truth.

About me

Hello. Welcome to my table... I am a game master with over 2 decades worth of experience running games of various systems, settings, and genres. Everyone is welcome at my table! I love that roleplaying games engage imagination and improvisation in both the players and the GM. I craft unforgettable tabletop experiences steeped in darkness, mystery, and high-stakes storytelling. Whether unraveling ancient conspiracies, surviving apocalyptic horrors, or battling cosmic forces, I lead players through worlds where danger lurks in every shadow. I thrive on making stories with the characters. I am known to improvise very well with whatever the characters want to do and give consequences when appropriate. I don’t seek to kill characters, but I also don’t like to hold punches in combat. I cater my style based on the game and setting we are playing. I have a physical condition called Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita (AMC for short) that limits strength and mobility in my appendages, so my mind and imagination are my biggest assets. I love telling a story and being part of the creative process for others’ creativity!

Character creation

Creating your character

We will select pre-generated characters from the module(s) or create characters from the core rulebooks. These decisions will be made prior to Session 1.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need a working microphone. A working webcam is not required, but recommended. I offer the option to stream/record games on Kick and YouTube. But only if EVERYONE is willing. A Discord account and Roll20 account are required!

What Colwyn brings to the table

I will have the maps and character sheets provided through Roll20. Rolls may be made on Roll20 or on the honor system with party consensus. Should players need it, I have a pdf of the core rulebook. What to Expect 🕵️‍♂️ Investigation-first gameplay with layered mysteries ❄️ Wartime survival in hostile, occupied territory 📜 Secret dossiers, intercepted transmissions, and classified briefings 🧠 Gradual Sanity erosion and lasting psychological consequences 🕯️ Cosmic horror rooted in history, not pulp fantasy Violence is dangerous. Knowledge is corrosive. Success may mean preventing something worse rather than achieving victory. Tone & Themes Espionage and secrecy Occult archaeology and forbidden research Faith under pressure The banality of cosmic evil Moral exhaustion in wartime This campaign favors slow-burn dread, difficult choices, and character-driven horror. This game is ideal for players who enjoy: Serious roleplay and investigation Horror that lingers beyond the session Characters who change permanently Stories where survival is not guaranteed This is not a heroic power fantasy. It is a tense, immersive descent into a war beneath the war.

Safety

How Colwyn creates a safe table

Players can expect strong amounts of roleplay. Combat in this game can be very dangerous for a PC's well-being. Prior to Session 1, we will go over character selection and/or character creation. We also will cover any safety tools that need to be mentioned publicly. If you have any personal triggers you do not want public, I will keep them confidential!
