About the adventure

If you're a newer player wondering what the adventures of previous editions were like or an old-school player looking for a taste of D&Ds past have I got an adventure for you. This campaign will take the 1996 AD&D Adventure "How the Mighty Are Fallen" and modernize its mechanics to fifth edition D&D while keeping faithful to the original design of the adventure. Players have the opportunity to participate in the final days of Netheril an empire of magical decadence known for its great flying cities. Will you choose to aid in the empire's destruction? or seek to prevent what must come to pass? There's plenty of intrigue and adventure to be had in one of the most pivotal events in Faerûn's history.

About me

Hey there, traveller! I'm Cian, aka Abasilisk. I'm dedicated as a GM to providing a safe and welcoming space for people to enjoy this wonderful hobby. I focus on bringing a cinematic experience to my games, be it within the narrative or through climatic and thrilling combats. I'm always looking to expand my TTRPG horizons by learning new systems and adapting my style of play to best suit the players. I've always found collaborative storytelling a joy, and everyone should have the chance to play at a good table. Whether you're taking your first step into TTRPGs or a long-time player looking for a consistent table, I'd love to assist. There are always more stories to tell and adventures to be had. If any of my listings interest you, or if you'd like to request an alternate time or are looking for something a little more custom, don't hesitate to shoot me a message.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will be done during session 0. Characters Sheets can be made on roll 20 or D&D beyond whatever you'd prefer. Characters start at level 11 using the 2024 rules set. Content from all official D&D releases are able to be used. UA/Homebrew/partner options for characters can be discussed and allowed upon my approval.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

To Prepare you will need the following: - A free discord account and microphone to use Voice chat - A free roll20 account to use the VTT - A free D&D Beyond account for character sheets/content sharing - A computer that can comfortably run these necessary programs A basic understanding of the system is appreciated but not essential.

What Cian/Abasilisk brings to the table

First and foremost my enthusiasm for the game! I like to put effort into the presentation of the session preparing ambient music to set the mood for scenes or to match the current environment. When it comes to rulings my preference is towards rule of cool and to let Players try new things though I'm careful not to let this break the balance of encounters or to undermine the builds of other players. Speaking of encounters, while most fights will make use of a battle map as I prefer tactical combat certain situations suit theatre of the mind better. This is due to factors like the scale of the location, The effectiveness of range or speed to the encounter or even just the pace of the session. As for the in-game content, you'll have access to the majority of D&D 5e player content for the D&D beyond Character builder.

Homebrew rules

I'm up to add additional homebrew rules after session 0 discussions but the ones I use for 5e currently are as follows: - Potions can be drunk as a bonus action for rolled healing or as an action for maximum healing.
