About the adventure

In the beginning, there was only the sound of wings. With a single flap, creation burst forth: fire, ice, air, water, soil and sky, all came from the sound of feathers that resonated throughout the cosmos. This is the Great Rhythm, and by the Great Rhythm are all things moved. In the world of Everden, on the eastern coast of a vast continent, nestled in a valley between the towering Crest Mountains and the marshlands of the Mokk Fields, lies an ancient land covered by a vast temperate forest so old the trees dwarf even the tallest castles. The Humblewood hums with the Great Rhythm of nature. It has been ruled for generations by the birdfolk and humblefolk who inhabit the Great Tree-City of Alderheart. Humblewood has endured for centuries thanks to the industry and compassion of its people, but now the fires have come, and the Wood has been thrown into chaos. Flames ravage the land and destroy the homes of the humblefolk, stoking a growing resentment against the birdfolk, whose cities have managed to avoid the worst of the fires so far. Hatred burns in the hearts of those who have lost their homes and loved ones, and the once peaceful humblefolk have now taken up the sword and turned to banditry. The disaffected turn their gaze on Alderheart, and threaten to reduce an age of peace to ashes.....yet there is still hope. Even in these dark times, brave heroes, both birdfold and humble folk can be found within the Wood. Only they can quell the raging flames that have been unleashed upon the land, and restore balance to the Wood.

About me

HI, I'm Chaz. I've been playing D&D off and on since the 70's, but never as much as I would like. Which brought me to StartPlaying. I've done theatre and improv most of my life and I like to bring that into the game, silly voices, bad jokes and all. I want us all to work together to create a unique story, whether it ends up as an intense dramatic adventure or an episode of Loony Tunes, I'm all in.

Character creation

Creating your character

- All characters will start lvl 1. - We will primarily be using the races provided by the Humblewood campaign setting, which will be available on discord, once you join. - Due to the above, we will be following primarily 2014 rules. - More details will be available on discord. - Character creation will done during session 0, but of course, feel free to come with plans, ideas, and utter nonsense.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need access to discord for voice and video (web cam optional, but encouraged). Players will also need a free account on https://forge-vtt.com/ (This is a web hosting site for Foundry servers)

What Chaz brings to the table

I want to create this story together, but mostly I'm looking to have fun. My kids learned a long time ago, they could get away with a lot more stuff at home if they made me laugh, and I kind of DM the same way. I will do my best to prepare challenges and puzzles and mysteries to solve, but if you want to spend the session, arguing with the shopkeep, flirting with farmers daughter, & sitting around the campfire expounding on backstory and telling jokes - I'm all in! If you are a rules lawyer, you are probably going to be frustrated playing with me. I've played just about every variation of D&D rules from their creation, at least a little, so I'm not going to remember all of them and I'm OK with that. I'm way more interested in enjoying the game. I'll look up the rule, if I feel like it, make a call, and move on with the fun.

Homebrew rules

I've got a brief list on my discord, which I'll provide, once you've signed up.
