This Campaign is in the Play-by-Post format, meaning it's primarily played via text in a discord server and within a shared Virtual Tabletop. Well hello! Name's David - SideQuestNPC on almost everything online. Coolest nerd you'll ever meet and, oh yeah, I'm a proud Forever DM. Throughout the years I pursued a career in filmmaking, a dream from my early teens. I've also done loads of Youtube content creating, live streaming on Twitch & YT, podcasting, writing, improv, and voice acting. Now that I've reprioritized what I want to do for a living, I've really come to realize that DM/GMing really flexes all my talents and interests into one role that I truly get a tremendous amount of joy and fulfillment from. Creating your character
First and foremost, since we're using SW5e, players will have to visit the site (sw5e.com) and there they can not only nab themselves PDF copies of the sourcebooks, but also on the site are tools such as the character creator (beta). After joining and all the way up to the first handful of posts, I'll work with every player in making sure they get everything sorted out with their character so they're ready to take on the galaxy. Players typically will start at level 3, though partaking in the total Zero to Hero arc then starting at level 1 is also available. The character's backstory should also reflect that level of skill and power.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Discord, all posts and interactions will happen on the discord server. You'll also need an account for Owlbear Rodeo VTT so that you can easily regain access to the private room to see the scenes and map for the campaign. Beyond that, just having your character sheet and all the sources on the SW5e website will be enough to jump right in. It's not fully necessary to be well versed in 5th Edition to play, this campaign is open to all; beginners and veterans. Though if you are familiar with 5e (particularly 2014 version) you'll feel the direct comparisons and conversions. If inspired, go ahead and draft up that character with SW5e. I'll take a look at the sheet and more than likely you'll be good to go. No custom classes or species please.
What SideQuestNPC brings to the table
In this campaign we will utilize Discord and Owlbear Rodeo VTT for an immersive dive into the galaxy far, far away. That's where we'll use a dedicated discord server for all things SW5e with myself the GM (SideQuestNPC) as well as any other campaigns and One-Shots that I'll run (SideQuestRPGs). When combat erupts, we will use Owlbear Rodeo VTT to coordinate and eliminate the threat. What to expect? Well, it's simple. Expect to jump in and have fun. My GMing style and love for Star Wars really lends to the goal of making sure players get to enjoy their time with me in this universe. I'm not going to bog things down with overly complicated rules or set ups. It's all about getting together, picking up where y'all left off, and seeing what else the galaxy has to offer. Definitely shenanigans to be expected.
