About the adventure

If you have never played D&D or are a veteran, this adventure is for you. With a healthy blend of Roleplay, Exploration, Problem solving, and Combat; this adventure has something for everyone. The world is a custom map that I made almost 10 years ago and have used for many long term campaigns. It is a region in the material plane and comes with a little bit of it's own history. The main notable piece is the rarity of humans compared to other species (you can play whatever species you want). The world is sometimes referred to as: the Continent. In this One-Shot, your party has been tasked with transporting the most wanted creature in the Continent. Adeline Fletcher a.k.a. "The Clear Night Killer" has been convicted in Higendwarf on 47 counts of murder. She is considered the most cunning and dangerous assassin east of the Craigshaft mountains. She was never captured by the crown authorities. Rather, Adeline was ratted out by an ex-con turned informant, Dweezle Applegar. There was a bounty set for the capture and return of Ms. Fletcher. The bounty was set at 10,000 gold pieces. Plus 5,000 gp for the safe return of the prisoner to Higendwarf. Adeline was captured in Sunshore by a friend of the party, Kline Mason, a respected bounty hunter. Kline has hired you to take Adeline back from Sunshore to Higendwarf where "she will face her justice" as they tells you. They have already sent word to the king that you are to arrive in 5 days. Payment will be transferred to Kline once you arrive with the prisoner in tact, and you will receive your 5,000 gp then as well. Our adventure begins with the party meeting with Kline as he gives you the details of Adeline, her capturing, and just how dangerous she is. He also warns you about rogue group that may try to intercept you as you travel south.

About me

Hi there, hello! My name is Joe, I’m 29, and I’ve been playing RPGs regularly since I was 16 and GM-ing since I was 17. Outside of TTRPGs, I enjoy hiking and camping, performing improv comedy, playing and designing board games, and spending time with friends and family. My journey into RPGs began with a nine-month Warhammer Fantasy RP 2e campaign, meeting twice a week, followed by a six-month D&D 4th Edition campaign. Over the past 12 years, I’ve run many 4th and 5th Edition D&D campaigns, often lasting 18 months or more. I also have experience with Warhammer Fantasy RP (2e & 4e), A Song of Ice and Fire RPG, Cairn 1e, and CoC 2e. Altogether, I have over 500 hours of GM experience and more than 1,000 hours of RPG playtime. I also run a small D&D YouTube channel aimed at helping new players learn the game, which has helped me develop clear explanations, strong table pacing, and an inclusive, welcoming GM style.

Character creation

Creating your character

You can use either the old 2014 or the new 2024 rules to make your character. Blends are okay too, like if you wanted to use the 2014 Cleric class but a subclass from the 2024 book that is okay with me. Just don't blend features from the Cleric class in both 2014 and 2024 rules. If you have questions feel free to message me :) You can also use books like TCE, XGE, VGM, MMoM. As long as it's in one of the rule books and not from a module book, I'm pretty cool with whatever. If there is a species or a class from a module you really want to play, message me first and we can talk about it. You can use spells from either 2014 or 2024 (or TCE/XGE). For instance if you want old counterspell but the new poison spray, that is fine with me. You are not permitted to use spells only listed in modules (like Silvery Barbs). For rolling Ability Scores (Str, Dex, Con, Int, Wis, Cha), do the following: 1. Roll 4d6, drop the lowest and sum the rest. 2. Repeat step 1 six times, giving you one number for each Ability Score. 3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 once. You should now have two sets of six numbers. 4. Select one of the sets to be your Ability Scores. 5. Remove the lowest number from your selected set, and replace it with the highest number from to rejected set. 6. Assign the six numbers to your Abilities as desired. --- Example: - I roll: 2, 6, 4, 5 -> 15 (2 is dropped) 1, 1, 4, 5 -> 10 (1 is dropped) 3, 3, 6, 4 -> 13 (3 is dropped) 5, 3, 6, 6 -> 17 (3 is dropped) 4, 4, 5, 4 -> 13 (4 is dropped) 2, 1, 1, 4 -> 7 (1 is dropped) which gives me [17, 15, 13, 13, 10, 7] - Then I roll again and get another set [15, 15, 14, 12, 10, 8]. - I decide to take the second set [15, 15, 14, 12, 10, 8]. - Now I remove the 8 (which was the lowest number), and replace it with 17 (the largest number from the set I did not choose). - Giving me a final set of: [17, 15, 15, 14, 12, 10]. --- Other than that, follow either the guide in 2014 or 2024 for making your character. You can mix and match all you want! If you want a 2014 Race, and a 2024 Class, with a 2014 Background; go for it! I want to see you have fun. I'm not here to be a rules police. The only restrictions are to use official D&D rules not Homebrew or Unearthed Arcana. If you are new to D&D and don't know how to make a character, message me any questions you might have :)

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will use Discord to connect for the session. Please have a webcam and microphone for communication (built-in webcam and mic are okay). Once you have signed up for the session, I will send you the discord server link. The only things you'll need to play is a way to record your character sheet (either pencil and paper or a digital document) and some dice (real or digital).

What Eddie Proudfoot (GM Joe) brings to the table

With this adventure, there is the potential for some interesting road combats to take place. If there are a large amount of enemies or a complex terrain; I will set up a Hex grid and share a Video feed of it with the group. As a professional improviser, I aim to deliver authentically real NPC's and genuine reactions. NPC's will feel distinct, not just through their voices, but also their cadence and mannerism. My main focus in any game is on the players. We are all here to have fun! I want to ensure everyone gets to participate equally and have their voice heard at the table. We are here to work together and build each other up to be the best version of our characters.

How Eddie Proudfoot (GM Joe) creates a safe table

Since it's a One-Shot, there will be a link to the Lines and Veils document where players will be able to add what they are not comfortable with occurring during the One-Shot. I have one in both Lines and Veils to start us off: Line - PVP; and Veil: Sexual Content. At the beginning of the One-Shot, We will, as a group, go over the Lines and Veils and have an open discussion about how to respect them during the game. The first 15-30 minutes of the session will be the One-Shot's "Session 0". Please fill out the Lines and Veils before hand so that we can streamline this process. That being said this part of the One-Shot will not be rushed as it is important we are all on the same page. During game-play we will use the X, N, and O check-in method. Except, instead of cards we will use hand signals: - X = Arms Crossed 🙅‍♀️ - N = Thumbs Down 👎 - O = Thumbs Up 👍 For those unfamiliar X, N, O are like Red, Yellow, and Green lights. - X means stop immediately (cut to the next scene) - N means let's move away from this (fade to black) - O means everything is okay The goal with Line and Veils is that we won't have to use this measure since we will all know what to avoid at the beginning of the One-Shot. This tool is here as a fail safe or if something is forgotten.
