About the adventure
D.I.C.E. Academy is the gateway into Lumagimaya, a living high fantasy world shaped by the choices of those brave enough to step into it. Framed as an adventuring institution, the Academy trains recruits for real threats facing the world, blending learning, discovery, and consequence into the story itself. Characters begin as members of the school and quickly find that lessons do not stay contained to classrooms. What starts as training becomes involvement in a world that remembers what you do and reacts accordingly. This game is character driven and story first. The focus is on roleplay, meaningful decisions, and shared storytelling rather than constant combat or mechanical optimization. Combat exists when it makes sense and carries narrative weight, but social encounters, exploration, and personal character arcs are just as important. The tone balances wonder, danger, humor, and emotional stakes, allowing both light moments and serious consequences to land naturally. The table is welcoming to players of all experience levels. Newer players will find a supportive environment where the rules are taught through play, while experienced players will enjoy a rich setting, thoughtful pacing, and space to explore complex characters. You do not need to know everything about D&D to play here, just a willingness to engage, collaborate, and share the spotlight. If you enjoy immersive worlds, intentional roleplay, and a game where your character’s growth is as important as their power, D.I.C.E. Academy offers a place to learn, experiment, and leave a lasting mark on Lumagimaya.

About me
I run games where the world reacts, player choices matter, and the story belongs to the table, not a script. I’ve been running games for 3 years with friends and family, and I’m excited to bring that experience online. I’m a combat veteran, world traveler, and longtime Burner. Presence and trust matter to me. Music culture, creative weirdness, emotional depth, and unconventional solutions are welcome and encouraged. If you like thinking sideways instead of playing it safe, you’ll fit right in. I know D&D 5e well and don’t let rules slow down great moments. I’m comfortable making quick calls so momentum, immersion, and fun stay intact. We can always clarify details after. Story and player experience come first.

Creating your character
Character creation is collaborative and simple. We’ll handle it together either during session zero or before your first session, depending on player preference and experience level. I’m happy to help walk through ideas, mechanics, and options so everyone starts with a character that fits your heart’s desire. We will be building characters on D&D Beyond so I can have access to stat sheets and optimize your experience. Characters begin at level 1 as recruits of the D.I.C.E. Academy. Stats are determined using point buy, keeping characters balanced and focused on growth through play. Advancement is story driven, with leveling tied to meaningful milestones rather than pure combat. Core books are always allowed. Additional official material is welcome with a quick check in, as some spells and features are not allowed at the table. Homebrew options are considered case by case and are mostly more than welcome. I want your character to excel at what they’re good at while leaving some room for character development in other areas. The most important part is that you’re using a character you’re excited to inhabit. If you come with a concept and curiosity, we’ll build the rest together. For a more technical look: On dnd beyond there's a few things to check in with on the Home Screen of character building Character preferences: allow all sources and partnered content based on DND to be checked, we'll rule out a couple things in character creation Optional Class Features and Customizing your origin are highly allowed Milestone advancement type Manual Maxed Hit Point Type Prereqs are left unchecked but need to be cleared to make sure your character will have access based on their level We'll decide encumbrance based on the realism level the party wishes to set Ignore coin weight All Species and Classes welcome and I'd love to hear about your homebrews! Given we are at an academy your equipment is baseline and Gold will be set based on backstory and class One free Feat to start out with, cuz why not One final note up front so there are no surprises later. Lucky feat. is not allowed. It’s dumb and it warps play. Silvery Barbs, Counterspell, and similar reaction based “nope” mechanics are also not allowed. Anything that exists primarily to shut down other players, enemies, or the flow of the game falls into this category. If something feels adjacent, we’ll talk it through during character creation and as we make decisions during level ups.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You’ll need three things before playing. D&D Beyond account for character building Discord account for voice chat and general announcements Roll20 account for the virtual tabletop. Some maps are prebuilt, but many will be created on the fly with no background and theater of the mind will often be used when it best serves the scene.
What Solmaiu brings to the table
I provide an immersive, story-first game with consistent NPCs, situational character voices, and we'll find a way for ambient music. Combat is meaningful, not constant. Rules as Written with Rule of Cool when it improves the moment.
Homebrew rules
Healing potions can be used as a bonus action. Critical hits deal max damage plus your damage roll. Heroic moments may earn advantage, inspiration, or narrative benefits when players lean into character driven choices. Creative problem solving can bypass or reshape encounters without requiring combat. Rule of Cool may override strict rulings when it enhances the story and doesn’t invalidate other players.

How Solmaiu creates a safe table
Player safety and comfort are taken seriously and handled intentionally. Before play begins, we’ll cover boundaries and expectations during Session Zero, including themes, tone, and any personal limits players want respected. I use Lines and Veils as a baseline and we will collect boundaries verbally, and place them in notes in DNDBeyond to stay familiar. During play, X, N, and O tools are always available. These can be typed in chat, messaged privately, or spoken out loud. No explanation is ever required. If something crosses a line, we pause, adjust, and move on without making it a moment. I am a healer at heart and aim to bring that energy to the table. We WILL be tapping into many scenarios that will give players opportunities to live out and intervene how they see fit. Aftercare is simple and human. I check in after intense sessions, invite feedback, and make space for players to decompress if needed. Communication is open, respectful, and ongoing. The goal is a table where people feel safe exploring big stories without feeling pressured, exposed, or uncomfortable.
