About the adventure
When the haunting whistle of the Ghostlight Express calls, you find yourself drawn to the mysteries that await in the twisted realm of Druskenvald. Find whatever answers lie beneath the stare of the ever-present Crooked Moon before the darkness lurking at every corner of Wickermoor Hollow consumes the whole of Druskenvald. In this folk horror campaign, characters will explore Wickermoor Hollow, a neglected corner of Druskenvald where all manner of malicious schemes and troubling creatures lie in wait. A great evil stirs beneath the moon's crooked grin, and players must escape cursed locations, defeat unknowable horrors, and survive long enough to uncover the true nature of the evil that has infected the land. Perfect for fans of all varieties of horror, players can expect challenging combat, tense investigation, and plenty of roleplay with the strange NPCs that populate Wickermoor. As a heavy silence fills the room, you examine the choices laid before you. Your heart begins to race with the certainty that, after this selection, endless adventure awaits. Hello, and welcome! I am Alice (they/them), and in the 8 years that I have been DMing, I have gotten to lead players across a variety of worlds, from the stormy seas and monstrous caves of DND to the non-stop chaos of Cyberpunk's Night City. As a long-time DM and professional folklorist, I love collaborating with my players to tell epic, action-packed stories with lots of opportunity for roleplay and adventure.

Creating your character
We will create characters together during our Session Zero using D&D Beyond. Players will be provided with a campaign link during the session, so that they can access content from the many source books I own on the website. Characters will start at Level 1, and players should plan to create characters using the 2024 5e rules (with some flexibility based on player preference and DM discretion). In addition to creating the character sheet in D&D Beyond, we will also use our Session Zero to work together on aspects of character backstory, including using the module's Fateweaving mechanic to determine individual player character goals for the campaign. Players can expect a lot of support in the character creation process to build characters that will be suited thematically for a folk horror setting.

Players should have accounts for Discord and DNDBeyond. After joining the campaign, players will receive a link to the campaign's Discord server.
What Alice brings to the table
As a DM, my focus is on collaborating with my players to tell an epic story. That means lots of roleplay, dramatic music, customized visuals, and goofy voices on my end so that you have endless opportunities to explore your character and the world around them. While I am happy to teach players the rules/mechanics of DND, I am even happier to bend or break them for a good reason. Since I put overall story and player experience first, I absolutely embrace Rule of Cool! For this specific campaign, players can also expect access to the Crooked Moon and its various character options (subclasses, species, and spells) through DNDBeyond. Players can also expect their stories to be intertwined into the module's content using its unique Fateweaving mechanic and my extensive DMing experience.
