Creating your character

🛠️ Tools We will use D&DBeyond’s beginner-friendly character creation tool to build our characters during session 0. 1️⃣ Level Characters will begin at level 1. 📚 Classes/Species/Feats Anything available in my campaign on D&DBeyond, or anything you personally own. 🤝 Collaborative Character Creation If you have a character idea, leave the details flexible! When you come to the table, your character will be influenced by the group, and influence the group back in turn. ⏪ Changing Characters Realize you don’t like how your character works? That’s ok, talk to me! We’ll figure something out.

Preparing for the session

📷 Webcam A working webcam is strongly encouraged. Cameras add so much to the game that it’s a sure way to heighten your experience! 🎙️ Microphone and Headphones We play by voice; a working, decent-quality microphone is *required*. Please be prepared to control any background noise. 📡 Discord Discord must be installed for voice and video chat. ⚔️ D&D Beyond Account We use this for character creation, you can register for free at dndbeyond.com 🧠 D&D 5e Knowledge No prior experience needed, but I encourage you to familiarize yourself with the basic rules ahead of time. 👓 Read through the game info and answer the pre-session-0 questionnaire. ❓ Feel free to contact me if you have any concerns being prepared for your first game.

I like to shake things up with fresh and compelling gameplay, whether in combat or skill challenges, so you’ll be on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

Homebrew rules

I often experiment with homebrew rulings, but always transparently, and only to solve actual issues at the table. I don't have a pre-selected list of homebrew, but I will frequently use unofficial solutions for things that official 5e struggles with: travel, companions, involved skill challenges, etc. Expect to be surprised, but always feel free to bring up any concerns.

How Myrm creates a safe table

🗓️ Before Session 0, I’ll send out some info and questions to get you thinking: 🗓️🚫 Players will each identify their Lines and Veils (sensitive topics to exclude or limit in our game) 🗓️✨ I’ll provide some more information about the adventure to get your creativity flowing 🗓️💖 Players will focus on the things that excite them about the game, ensuring I include elements everyone is passionate about 🔨 In Session 0 we’ll put everything together: 🔨👍 Review the players’ preferences, concerns and wishes together 🔨🤝 Collaboratively build characters to create a party we all care about 🔨⚔️ Have a taste of gameplay so that we can see our ideas in action 🎲 During play: 🎲❌ The X card will always be available to stop the current scene for safety 🎲🚪 My open door policy will allow anyone to step away from the game if they need to 🎲⏳ I’ll include breaks at convenient times, catering the break schedule to your group.
