About the adventure

Welcome Adventurers to the Rise of the Runelords Adventure Path by Paizo! By far, this is my most beloved AP due to its classic nature! This will be my 7th full GMing of this AP, so I know it well and aim to bring you the best possible version of it! This campaign is great for new players as well as veterans! Plot Hook: From the idyllically peaceful coastal town of Sandpoint to an ancient lost city at the top of the world, Rise of the Runelords takes a party of adventurers from 1st to over 17th level and delves into the mysteries of Varisia's ancient past. Millennia ago, the powerful empire of Thassilon ruled the land, dominated by despotic Runelords who maintained their power through harnessing the power of rune magic. Thought gone forever, the workings of Thassilon are not so far beneath the surface and one of the Runelords plans a return to power. Only the brave adventurers stand in their way. Hero Points will be in play =D I ask you to join me and challenge yourselves to play this game from start to finish! I would prefer those who have yet to play this AP join up, but know that previous experience will not exclude you, we will simply have to talk about how you will avoid metagaming, both in character and in prep.

About me

Hello All, I have a true love for the Pathfinder 1e system and world, so much so that I have made it my core game to run. I am passionate about these games and love seeing how they can bring together a group of people for a larger-than-life quest! I have been a DM since the days of D&D 3.5, starting in 2008. I moved over to Pathfinder soon after, making it my preferred system, as I found it to be a good fix to 3.5, as well as their release of amazing material. As a DM, I make it my personal goal to ensure that all players feel like they are part of the game. I prefer to play by RAW (Rules and Written), with flexibility to ensure enjoyability. As a teacher in the real world, I find great pleasure in helping newer players understand this game as well, so know that I am accepting of all sorts.

Character creation

Creating your character

-In session 0, the party will come together to discuss class/race/roles, and then build a general idea from there. -I can then work 1-on-1 with any player that needs help to ensure that their character is statted correctly, geared smartly, and can move in the direction they envision. -Whilst a "classic party comp" is helpful, it is not required to be successful! You should always play what is fun for you! Character Creation My one hard rule is this: Please create a character that wants to be involved with being a hero, going out on adventure, and thinking of more than just themselves. This is not a good AP for Lone Wolves or people not interested in helping small towns. Starting Level 1 -Starting Gold: average by class -Starting HP: Max HD -- When leveling you take average or roll, player choice each level Point Buy: 20 Points Alignment: Non-Evil. This AP asks you to be heroes of the people, something Evil really can't do properly. Races: 15 RP and below, and no natural flight at level 1 (Sorry Gathlain) Classes: All are open, but if Summoner, will have to chat about Turn Economy. -Archetypes: All are open with same ideas apply to summon archetypes -No Leadership or like feats/abilities My Ask of You: If possible, avoid Min/Maxing. This is a very rewarding campaign if you fully interact with it, and you can survive on tactical combat and teamwork much easier than in creating an OP build. Don't get me wrong, I love being strong, but just know this AP doesn't require it to win. This is a place to get involved in both the combat and the RP, so I recommend making a character that can interact with both sides of the game.

The current party

Still room for a 5th player! The party composition is: Alchemist - Focusing on Bombs and Potions Samurai - Focusing on Front Line Reach Offence Oracle - Healing and Melee Sorcerer - Electricity focused

Safety

How Soulkrist creates a safe table

-Both in Session 0 and Private 1-on-1 chats, I will try to learn all I can from each player to ensure that the game is presented in a comfortable manner, as well as give non-spoiler ideas of what they might expect/prepare for to help keep the integrity of the game alive at the same time. -Players are welcome to message me at anytime, during game and out of session, to discuss things that hinder their ability to enjoy the game.
