About me

Hello, if you're reading this, it means that you're considering me for your next session, and I really appreciate your consideration. Since childhood I have enjoyed books and all the stories they tell, so when I discovered D&D it was love at first sight. Telling stories, their development during the sessions and being able to provide a fun experience for everyone at my table is one of my biggest passions. I've been playing face-to-face D&D (3.5e, 5e and now 5.5e) since highschool and made the jump online since 2023. I take a lot of time preparing the session (choosing the maps, handouts, music, tokens) to improve the players' experience. I'm always eager to meet new players so we can create amazing stories and moments we enjoy together, because at the end of the day, that’s what we are all here about!

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will be done on D&D Beyond and then imported into Foundry. Once you join the game, you can access my D&D Beyond campaign; there you can choose one of the D&D Beyond premade characters or create a 5th-level one following the next guidelines: • Choose a class/species/background from the 2024 expanded ruleset. • Standard Array or Point Buy (27) for Ability Scores. • Manual Hit Point type (max for Lv1, roll twice and keep the highest, up to level 4, and roll normal for the others). • For gear, choose 'Standard Equipment' or money. •Choose 1 rare, 2 uncommon, and 4 common magical items (previous authorization), or we can craft them together for your character.

The current party

Party composition: Human – Eldritch Knight Fighter Elf – Peace Domain Cleric Harengon – Hexblade Warlock Firbolg – Ranger/Druid Looking for: A reliable player with a character who fits well into a heroic, teamwork-focused party. Any class or build is welcome. Join if you enjoy: ✔ Collaborative storytelling ✔ Medium-to-high combat ✔ Medium-to-high RP ✔ Long-term campaign arcs

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need: - A working computer. - A stable internet connection. - A working mic (we communicate through it). - A free Discord account for audio/video and extra links. - A free D&D Beyond account so you can use my content from D&D Beyond for character creation. - A free The Forge account, so you can play the game online. Prior to the game, I'm available to answer any questions or help with any issues.

What Carlos MC brings to the table

On the tech side: -A discord server. -Foundry vtt (ambient music, high quality maps, animations). -D&D Beyond with lots of books and characters options. On the GM side: - Adaptability for the beginner or experienced player (a patient GM who can explain the game or one who can challenge your character). - Collaborative world building; it's our story and our time, so let's have fun together. - My best attempt at giving NPCs a unique voice and interesting personality, and the use of technology for some voices/effects.

Homebrew rules

Here is a list with the house rules I use during the game: • Critical damage (20 on a roll): roll your damage dice and add the maximum possible for that dice (for example, a longsword: 1d8+8+modifier); it's for everything (paladin’s smites, rogue’s sneak attack, ranger’s hunter’s mark, etc.). • Potions: If you expend a bonus action, roll for healing as normal (example: Potion of Healing, roll 2d4 + 2); if you take a full action, you heal the maximum amount of the potion (example - Potion of Healing, heal 10 hp). • Meaningful healing: No natural 1s on the roll of health potions or healing spells. • 30-second rule: If I don’t know a rule or something you ask, give me 30 seconds to find it; if I can’t, we go with the thing the player wants. • Absent PC can’t be killed. • Heroic Inspiration can be used to give the DM disadvantage or to help another player. If a character gains Heroic Inspiration when they already have it, they can give it to another player who lacks it. • Reaching 0 HP gives ONE level of exhaustion (cumulative). Remember that you die if you get 6 levels of exhaustion. And you get the dying condition instead of unconscious (you can’t take actions, but you can crawl 10 feet). • A long rest removes 1 level of exhaustion, but doing it in an Inn or favorable terrain for your character removes 2 instead. • Fewer multiclass requirements: you must have a score of at least 13 in ONLY ONE of the primary abilities of each class. • Bloodied condition: you can’t tell exactly how many hit points you have; you have to describe yourself using:  Bloodied: your HP is less than 50%.  Well bloodied: your HP is less than 25%.  On death’s door: your HP is less than 10%. • Holding Turn: When you roll for initiative, you can tell to hold your turn until something happens (another player's turn or an enemy's turn); after the first round, you can choose to keep the new or the original turn. • Critical Miss: rolling a Nat 1 on a saving throw results in double damage dice (like a Nat 20 for attacks). • Boosted Help: On your turn, you can choose to take the help action, but instead of giving them advantage on the roll, you give them an extra 1d6+Prof. This is valid for skills checks and for attacks (the same bonus applies to the damage).
